Disneyland Rock Your Disney Side 24 Hour Party
Once a year Disney opens the doors to Disneyland will not close it at the usual time. On May 23rd thru May 24th Disneyland and California Adventures will be open 24 hours straight. The Disney fans can enjoy not only the “Rock Your Disney Side” party this year, but also enjoy some unique treats along the way.
First, let’s discuss the basics. Disneyland will begin the party at 6:00 AM on Friday May 23 and it will end at 6:00 AM on Saturday May 24. During the fun filled extravaganza event you can dress up and party on with characters (Heroes and villains alike), eat some unique food and ride the beloved attractions.
Rides: Per Disney “select” rides will be available during the event. Currently Alice in Wonderland is closed for refurbishment, finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is also closed. It’s a small World and Pirates of the Caribbean are supposed to open by May 22.
Food: Disneyland and California Disney will be offering unique dishes during this time period. They include Fried chicken and mini Mickey waffles at Plaza Inn, apple berry flatbread at Village Haus, Black and white ice cream sandwich at Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and more! You can find the full list of specialty dishes at the following Disney site.
Entertainment: Guess what? There will be new entertainment events planned by the good folks at Disney. There will be a rare Mickey’s Soundsational Parade happening around 12:30 AM.
If you get tired of walking around or just need a cool place to relax, head over to the Magic Eye (Captain EO) theater and watch a movie marathon! They will be playing Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America.
On the California Adventures side there will be sing-along viewing of Frozen in the Muppets Theater (starts at 11:30 AM)
World of Color show will be done at 3 AM as well. So if you want to catch the fireworks at Disneyland at 9:30 PM, skip the World of Color show at 9:45 PM.
What to expect: Since this party happens only once a year and a single day ticket will be good for both days, expect crowds! Also because of its unique experience you should be expecting higher than normal level of attendance. The crowd should get more manageable around 1 AM to 6 AM. Since there will be unique Disney Characters in the park, rides should not have too long of a wait (in the later hours). Make sure you pack some snacks and water (while they are available at the park, it is good to have something as a backup).
Most of all – expect to party and have fun!
