Eichelle helps us with a diaper bag make over with essential oils

DoTerra-Multi-Oils

My family has used essential oils for over 5 years, but I when I think of my grown children as infants, I wish I would have cared for them more naturally. If only I had doTERRA essential oils in my diaper bag.

I wanted to offer some suggestions for a diaper bag make-over to help moms treat their kids the natural way with essential oils. The diaper bag basics include: Breathe, Digestzen, Roman Chamomile, Lavender, and Melaleuca. These essential oils will help resolve those hard to predict baby meltdowns such as abdominal pain, colds, colic, congestion, croup, diaper rash, earaches, fever and teething. My kids are all grown and out of diapers, but I remember how helpless it can feel when treating infants and toddlers. Natural, safe, and effective doTERRA essential oils are the best way to care for your family.

lavenderAnxiety: If the baby is anxious, use Roman chamomile in the bath or for a massage.

Calming/Sleep: To help a baby sleep, use lavender in the bath or one drop of the oil on each foot.

Colds: Melaleuca, Lavender, lemon – Mix 1-2 drops of each oil and diffuse. Mix 1 drop of each oil and massage on upper chest and back every 4 hours.

lemonColic or tummy pains: If a baby has an upset tummy, gently massage DigestZen on the baby’s abdomen. What a relief for any digestive concerns!

Constipation: Dilute 1 to 2 drops of rosemary oil in 2 tablespoons carrier oil and massage on stomach and the bottoms of baby’s feet.

Cough: Rub 1-3 drops of Breathe with carrier oil on chest, upper back, neck and if possible, diffuse in room at night.

breatheCroup: Marjoram and Thyme – Dilute in a carrier oil and massage on neck and chest.

Diaper Rash: Lavender – Dilute 1 drop with a carrier oil and apply around area of concern. Or 1-2 drops Sandalwood or Myrrh add 1-2 drops coconut oil and apply to affected area Diarrhea: Digestzen – Dilute 1 drop of oil with a carrier oil and massage around the abdomen.

Earache & Ear Infections: Melaleuca, Lavender, Basil – Dilute 1-2 drops of Melaleuca and/or Lavender around the ear (NOT inside the ear) along the back of the cheek bone down & around behind the ear. Basil may help with the pain. May put 1 drop on a cotton ball or swab and apply around the ear (not in ear canal).

melaleucaFever: Peppermint – dilute 1 drop in a carrier oil and rub on feet, spine, back of neck, or behind ears.

Jaundice: Geranium – Apply 1 drop of Geranium oil with a tsp of carrier oil and apply on liver area or bottom of feet. (Do NOT apply oils within 30 minutes before or after UVA light treatment).

Runny Nose: Rub 1-2 drops of Lemon on feet or down spine

Teething: Lavender or Roman Chamomile – Mix 1 drop with 1 tablespoon of carrier oil and massage around the outside of the face along the jaw line or directly on the gums. Or 1 drop of clove with a carrier oil and apply to gums.

There are so many doTERRA options to help relieve all those moments of despair when trying to treat and care for a baby. The bottom of the feet is the quickest way for the essential oils to get into the bloodstream. doTERRA essential oils are very safe to use although some precautions are to be considered such as: using a carrier oil (coconut oil, sweet almond oil, extra virgin olive oil) with all essential oils because a baby’s skin is so delicate and avoid diffusing very strong oils, such as cinnamon, peppermint, or oregano, in the baby’s room. It is also a good idea to cover the baby’s feet with socks after applying essential oils and avoid applying oils on the baby’s hands so that the oils don’t end up in the baby’s eyes.

Knowing what I know now, I would have used these anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal essential oils to head off colds, coughs, and infections. If I only had doTERRA in my life. I hope you will consider a diaper bag make over with doTERRA essential oils.
