Join our Park Rangers Sunday mornings for an easy 1-mile hike on the Nature Trail. Hike runs 8:00am – 9:00am. The trail takes visitors through grassland, oak woodland, riparian and sandy cactus scrub communities. Meet at Old Corral Day Use area. Rain will cancel hike.

  • Fee: Free
  • Parking: $5 per vehicle
  • Wear comfortable clothing, hiking shoes.
  • Sunscreen, water and insect repellent are recommended.

When was the last time you took the family out to hike for pure enjoyment? On this summer excursion, we’ll focus on fun facts and wildlife habits while answering questions from your little ones about the wild world. We’ll also play nature themed games along the way. Free hike runs 8:30am – 10:30am. This is a 2-mile (150-ft. elevation gain) hike for ages 7 and up. Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Canyon View Staging Area, (from southbound Aliso Creek Road, turn right on Glenwood [turns into Pacific Park] and right on Canyon Vistas. Meet at the entrance to Canyon View Park). Dick Marconi has such a love for cool cars that he decided to share it with others. 20 years ago, he started this museum to showcase the cars that he collected. At this Open House, you can meet the man himself as well as check out the awesome array of high-performance cars – from Ferraris to Jaguars, Formula 1 racecars to top fuel dragsters. If you are an automobile aficionado, then this is a place you’ll definitely want to check out. Event runs 10:00am – 2:00pm.

Back Bay Science Center (BBSC) Community Day

Come explore the buildings and surroundings of the BBSC!   Event occurs every Sunday and runs 10:00am – 2:00pm. Talk to the City of Newport Beach staff and volunteers about ongoing research, education, & restoration projects. Get your fingers wet in our tide pool touch tank, tour the teaching lab and aquarium tanks, and do some bird watching. The Science Center is located just off of Back Bay Drive on Shellmaker Island (600 Shellmaker Rd). This program is free and no reservations are required.

“Concerts on the Green” is a free series of outdoor concerts presented by Concordia University Irvine. Captivating audiences for over 40 years, Phil Jeffrey and his band, Musique Noir, will take you back to a time when Frank Sinatra, born 100 years ago this year, dominated the charts with his jazz and swing music. The group will also take you on a nostalgic journey with their interpretation of the great American Songbook that includes musical gems from the libraries of Tony Bennett, Bobby Darren, and many more. Bring folding chairs and blankets for seating; picnics. Grilled bratwurst, soft drinks, and snack will be available for purchase.  Event runs 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

Grab your lawn chairs, picnic baskets and dancing shoes for an evening of music in the park. A children’s play area will be available. Gourmet food trucks will be onsite with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee and other Irvine nonprofit organizations. Event runs 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Things to bring: chairs, blankets, sweatshirts, picnics or plan on enjoying a specialty item from one of the gourmet food trucks. Long pants, closed toed shoes and layered clothing are strongly recommended.

The City of Rancho Santa Margarita provides a variety of excellent musical performances with the sunset as your backdrop. Concert-goers are encouraged to visit some of RSM’s local restaurants before the concerts and bring a picnic dinner! Concert runs 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

Bring your own picnic dinner – food will also be available from Center Catering at the Yorba Linda Community Center. Seating is available in the amphitheater grass areas at the park (chairs and blankets recommended). Dogs are not recommended due to safety issues and the comfort of others in attendance. Riding skateboards, bikes, roller blades, and scooters throughout the park during the concert is prohibited. Alcohol is not allowed in the park. Concerts run 5:45pm – 7:15pm.
