Explore and make friends while making a mess in this free-form creative workshop geared to introduce Little Learners to different art media in a studio environment. Bayside Buddies is OC Parks new summer program for school age kids offered on selected Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (ages 4-10)! This is a parent and child hike with activities and games along the way, and ending with a craft in the cool classroom. Come learn about the different habitats of Upper Newport Bay, who lives here and why the Bay is important. Come prepared for exciting experiences! $5.00 per child and pre-registration is required. Slow-Paced Fitness Hike on Paved Hicks Haul Road

Enjoy an evening fitness hike through stunning rock formations and fragrant native plants as you listen to the sounds of nature. This hike is done at your own pace as a walk, jog, or run (speed range typically 2.5 to 3.5 mph), so is suitable for beginners who are just starting their fitness program as well as more experienced hikers who are looking for a workout. This out-and-back program travels the 3.5 mile route to scenic Loma Ridge (450′ elevation gain) and back down, with most participants completing the route in about 1.5 hours. The hike is family-friendly, but children must be closely supervised by an adult and able to hike with the group, or be safely carried by a strong adult or secured in a jogging stroller. This free hike runs 6:00pm – 8:00pm for ages 12 and up. Register online. Driving directions emailed upon registration.

Fullerton Downtown Farmers’ Market

Located in the Downtown Plaza on Wilshire Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue, adjacent to the Fullerton Museum Center.

Fullerton Market offers farm-fresh produce, flowers, fresh-baked breads, live entertainment, outdoor beer garden, arts and crafts, and activities for children. In addition to the traditional favorites, new vendors will be added each week. The market runs 4:00pm – 8:30pm, April 2 – October 29, 2015.

Admission to the market is free. There are kids’ activities, live entertainment, an outdoor beer garden, arts and crafts, produce vendors and more! Visitors to Fullerton Market will also be able to tour the award-winning Fullerton Museum Center, which offers a special reduced admission rate of $2 per person from 4 to 8 p.m. on market days the first Thursday of every month.

Parking for Fullerton Market may be found in any of the free downtown lots, or in the parking structures at Wilshire (enter from Harbor); Lemon Street and Chapman Avenue; and in the Transportation Center on Pomona and Santa Fe Avenue. Musical Entertainment starts at 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. each night. See website for band line-up.

Join us as we learn all about Orange County rattlesnakes: how to identify them, where they live, and what to do if you encounter one. Local herpetologist Steve Bledsoe, a member of the Southwestern Field Herping Associates, will give an informative presentation about these unique creatures. Live snakes will be on display and Steve will be happy to answer all of your questions. Event is for ages 8 and up and runs 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Register online. Admission is free.
