Join our Park Rangers Sunday mornings for an easy 1-mile hike on the Nature Trail. Hike runs 8:00am – 9:00am. The trail takes visitors through grassland, oak woodland, riparian and sandy cactus scrub communities. Meet at Old Corral Day Use area. Rain will cancel hike.

  • Fee: Free
  • Parking: $5 per vehicle
  • Wear comfortable clothing, hiking shoes.
  • Sunscreen, water and insect repellent are recommended.

Bring dad along on the backcountry wilderness hike he’s always wanted. Enjoy the oak-filled Wood Canyon and Wood Creek Trails as we search for wildlife and their evidence. This is a 2-mile (150-ft. elevation gain) hike. Event runs 8:30am – 10:30am. Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Canyon View Staging Area (from southbound Aliso Creek Rd, turn right on Glenwood [turns into Pacific Park] and right on Canyon Vistas. Morning Walk Around the Lake

Come enjoy a wonderful morning walk around the lake and learn about the native plants and critters in the park. This is an easy 2.5 mile walk (both paved and dirt trail) with no elevation gain. Walk runs 9:00am – 11:00am. Led by Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer Naturalists. Ages 8 & up welcome. Dogs on leashes welcome. Annual Irish Fair and Music Festival

The Great American Irish Fair and Music Festival is the largest festival of its kind in the Western United States. The Fair highlights 16 entertainment areas featuring the very best in the music, song, dance and sport of the Irish, along with over 100 Irish, Scottish and English import shops and arts and crafts vendors along with sheepherding shows, Irish horse shows, Irish dog shows and one of the largest Irish Step Dancing competitions in California. Public ride days are conducted on the third Saturday and following Sunday of each month from 10:00am – 3:30pm. The club has a variety of engines and riding cars.  Trains on public ride days are made up of 4 to 6 bench cars that seat 5 to 6 adults and children.  Children need to be old enough to walk (note we may have a height of 34″ requirement). Rides are free; however, donations are welcome and help keep the trains running.

Come explore the buildings and surroundings of the BBSC!   Event occurs every Sunday and runs 10:00am – 2:00pm. Talk to the City of Newport Beach staff and volunteers about ongoing research, education, & restoration projects. Get your fingers wet in our tide pool touch tank, tour the teaching lab and aquarium tanks, and do some bird watching. The Science Center is located just off of Back Bay Drive on Shellmaker Island (600 Shellmaker Rd). This program is free and no reservations are required.

Every week, rain or shine, the Great Park Certified Farmers Market features fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted artisan products, live music and entertainment, and a selection of gourmet food trucks. Historic District Walk – Take a walk through the renovated 12-acre Historic District at Crystal Cove State Park on Sunday, June 21, from 12:00-2pm. Former life-long resident Laura Davick will share stories about the colorful past of the Cove including the history, its rescue, and the plans for restoring the remaining 17 cottages. Park at Los Trancos parking lot then cross PCH at the signaled intersection and walk across the marked pathways and meet at the bluff top deck of the overnight rental check-in cottage. Day-use fee: $5/per hour (max. $15)

Summer Solstice Sunset Hike – To honor the longest day of the year, Crystal Cove State Park docents will lead a 2-hour Summer Solstice moderate 3-mile hike on Sunday, June 21 at 7:00pm. Meet at the Berns Amphitheater amphitheater (PCH inland at stoplight School-State Park, follow signs towards the campground.) Wear sturdy shoes, bring water, and dress in layers. Expect a 700 foot elevation gain/loss – terrain will be uneven and steep in some areas.

Kick off summer with live concerts, great food and more at the Summer Solstice Festival, part of the Day of Music Fullerton. Kids crafts and activities, free art workshops and gallery tours are sure to keep everyone entertained. For the past two years this festival has been the Muck’s most popular event of the year. More than 1,700 people enjoyed this event last year showcasing the best of ethnic folk music, dance and storytelling. fNoon-4 p.m. on June 21. Free admission.

Discounted Late Nights at Aquarium of the Pacific

Enjoy the Aquarium of the Pacific with special extended hours.

The entire Aquarium will be open, except Lorikeet Forest. Admission after 5:00 p.m. is just $14.95 for adults and seniors, and children (3-11). Watch the nighttime activities of our animals, touch a shark, and enjoy the beautiful evening lighting of the Aquarium’s architecture. Hours are 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Please note that Café Scuba may not be open on all nights but the Coffee Cart will be open in those cases.
