Led by Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteers in partnership with OC Parks. Spot native and spring migrating birds with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists on this 2-mile hike over uneven terrain (up to 400-ft. elevation gain) through one of the most diverse plant communities in the United States. For ages 12 and up (minors must be accompanied by an adult). Wear hiking or walking shoes and bring your binoculars. Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, James Dilley Preserve (405 South to 133 south to stoplight at 73 turn-off; make a U-turn, go 1 block; Dilley is on the right). Ranger Led Nature Hike

Join our Park Rangers Sunday mornings for an easy 1-mile hike on the Nature Trail. Hike runs 8:00am – 9:00am. The trail takes visitors through grassland, oak woodland, riparian and sandy cactus scrub communities. Meet at Old Corral Day Use area. Rain will cancel hike.

  • Fee: Free
  • Parking: $5 per vehicle
  • Wear comfortable clothing, hiking shoes.
  • Sunscreen, water and insect repellent are recommended.

Family Bandito Bike Ride to Dripping Cave

Join a band of bike wielding young explorers on a ride to Aliso’s most intriguing attraction. We’ll learn the mysterious legends of this famed bandit hideout as well as about its previous inhabitants – the Acjachemen people. This event is for those who can comfortably ride 5 miles (150 ft. elevation gain) on dirt trails with some sandy sections. Children ages 8 and up, or younger if peddled by an adult.  Bike, helmet, water, snack, and weather appropriate clothing/shoes are required. Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Ranger Headquarters, 28373 Alicia Pkwy (from southbound Aliso Creek Rd, turn right on Alicia Parkway, first right on Awma Road, then left into parking lot). Come explore the buildings and surroundings of the BBSC!   Event occurs every Sunday and runs 10:00am – 2:00pm. Talk to the City of Newport Beach staff and volunteers about ongoing research, education, & restoration projects. Get your fingers wet in our tide pool touch tank, tour the teaching lab and aquarium tanks, and do some bird watching. The Science Center is located just off of Back Bay Drive on Shellmaker Island (600 Shellmaker Rd). This program is free and no reservations are required.

For each storytime, a story will be chosen and read aloud for all to enjoy.  We encourage you to bring friends and family members of all ages. All of the stories that are read have a wonderful message of love and compassion fitting for all ages. Farmer’s Market – Sundays at the Orange County Great Park are headlined by the fresh produce and fun at our Certified Farmers Market. Every week, rain or shine, the Great Park Certified Farmers Market features fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, handcrafted artisan products, live music and entertainment, and a selection of gourmet food trucks. Market runs 10:00am – 2:00pm. Free parking and admission.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year when HB Downtown fills the 2nd block of Main Street with entertainment, holiday craft vendors, and refreshments. The event starts on the street with entertainment beginning at 2pm with Tuba Christmas, benefiting the Harvey Phillips Foundation. The stage performers begin at 4pm with Sunshine Generation, APA’s Surf City Singers, and the world-famous All-American Boys Chorus. Hot cocoa and refreshments also start at 4pm. Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6pm to help light our much-loved Christmas Tree. Santa stays around so boys and girls, young and old, have a chance to tell Santa what they would like for Christmas, and pose for pictures with Santa and the tree. This is a FREE event open to the public, from 2pm-7pm.

Go back in time to learn about what Irvine was like and how people lived before becoming a city in 1971. Irvine Historical Society Docents share the past through crafts and stories in these free programs. The summer programs feature Native American tales; the fall features Pioneer life. Event runs 2:00pm – 3:00pm. Parent participation required with children. Program is free but space is limited; registration required for each family member. Ages 5+. Supplies fee: $5. During this season of thankfulness, dress your little princes and princesses in their party best for a tea party, where the princesses from the Princess Parable will teach them party manners, discuss thankfulness and Godly character, and read a story from the Princess Parables series.
