Events in Orange County This Week: May 5th – May 11th


Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard-working Moms. I hope you enjoy your special day doing whatever it is you love to do. For some that might be time spent with your family and for others it might mean some much needed “me” time! There is a Mother’s Day Walk on Sunday at the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park and various other events planned this week to celebrate Moms at these events in Orange County. Have fun this week taking advantage of all Orange County has to offer!

Each week I will highlight library storytimes and family activities in a different city. Be on the look out for your hometown! This week I will feature the La Palma Library, a branch of the OC Public Library System. La Palma Library is located at 7842 Walker St., La Palma, CA 90623, 714-523-8585. Toddler Storytime is offered on Mondays at 11:30am – 12:05pm. Read Orange County Family Storytime is offered on Tuesdays at 6:30 – 7:45. On the first and third Tuesdays school age children can read to Bodey, an Australian Shepherd therapy dog, at 6:00pm – 6:30pm. Website is

Mommy Meet Up Elements Therapeutic Massage

Elements Therapeutic Massage is launching our first ever “Mommy Meet Up” series that will take place monthly at our studio in the Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills Center. What we are hoping to provide is a relaxed, communal space in our lobby for moms in the area to meet, socialize with coffee and bagels, (provided by us), while enjoying free 15 minute chair massage sessions and a short presentation (topics will vary monthly).

Join us for stories, music, movement and craft. Aimed at children ages 1-4 and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome. The library is closed to the public at this time. We will let you in starting at 11:20 p.m. Program runs 11:30am – 12:05pm. No advance registration required. Free.

Pretend City is dedicated to providing an environment for children to experience new cultures and learn to appreciate diversity. Celebrating Cinco de Mayo is a chance to honor the memory and bravery of the Mexican soldiers who fought for their country. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the culture of Mexico itself.

• Art Studio Smart Art Activity: Personal Piñatas – Traditionally piñatas have been a religious symbol, but today they have become a symbol of festivities. Piñatas can be found in all shapes and sizes. Let’s see what yours will look like.
• Sensational Story Time: Cinco De Mouse-O! Que felicidad! It’s Cinco de Mayo, and Mouse follows his nose to the festival, where musicians play, dancers stomp, and delicious treats abound. This story time will become interactive as we follow it up with word and piñata play!
• Good to Go Game: Jalapeño Hop- Don your sombreros for the Jalapeño hop! This will be a hopping good time as we move to authentic Mexican music. Once the music stops make sure to freeze!

The Celebration runs 10am – 4pm and is included in General Admission (Adults and Children 1 year and above $12.50, Infant to 12 months free).
