It’s the beginning of April (Happy April Fool’s Day!) and that means Spring Break for some schools in Orange County. Bubblefest at the Discovery Science Center is in full swing this week as well as Easter Eggstravaganza at Irvine Park Railroad. There are lots of unique events in Orange County going on this weekend – check them out!

Bubblefest – Orange County’s astounding spring break bubble spectacular.
Tickets can be purchased online or in-person. Cost: (General Admission + Mega Bubblefest Laser Show)

Animal Grossology – Children can have fun learning about animals in this interactive exhibit at the Discovery Science Center. The exhibit will be open daily and is included with the price of admission. Adults (15+) $15.95, Kids (3-14): $12.95, Parking is $4.

Monday, March 31st

Pretend City Family Autism Event

This event is for families with children of all ages who are on the autism spectrum. Event is 5pm – 7:30pm while Pretend City is closed to the general public. This special evening is an opportunity for children and their parents/siblings/caretakers to have some fun in an autism-friendly environment along with other families. Join us for story-time, songs and play as we discover the wonders of the sea! Our interactive early childhood program (ages 3-5) includes crafts, touch tanks, hands-on activities and much more! Today we will learn about life at the tide pools. We will read and learn about the many incredible creatures that dwell in our local tide pools. Also, sing silly songs and dance. Then you can join us for the Feeding Frenzy, as we feed all the tank creatures. Together we will create a wonderful tide pool sand scene to take home. Event is 10am-11am and includes admission to the zoo. Come learn all about bunnies and meet some up close! Class includes hands-on learning and fun crafts.

Pretend City Celebrate Passover – Model Matza Bakery

This event is included in general admission and runs 3pm – 3:45pm. Registration is free and is highly encouraged – walk-ins are welcome based on availability. Celebrate Passover by visiting Pretend City Children’s Museum and learn about this Jewish High Holiday by participating in the Matzah Bakery! Children will have a chance to dig into the dough as they produce flour from wheat kernels, winnow, and separate the chaff from the grain, collect the grain into a wheat mill and grind it into flour, and knead, roll, and bake the dough into a handmade matzah in the required amount of time. Delight in taking home your very own freshly baked matzah, holiday guide, and baker’s hat!

Shark Nights

The public is invited to get up close with the ocean’s ultimate predators at the Aquarium of the Pacific for FREE during Shark Lagoon Nights. Guests will have the opportunity to touch bamboo sharks and see large sharks such as sand tigers as well as rays in the Aquarium’s Shark Lagoon. Coffee, hot cocoa, beer, wine, desserts, and snacks are available for purchase.

Kidseum Storytelling, Music and Art

Saturday, April 5th

Free Kid’s Fishing Clinic – Tri-City Regional Park 2301 Kraemer Blvd. Placentia, CA 92870, ocparks.com/events
Event is 7am – 11am. OC Parks would like to invite you and your kids to a fun morning of fishing at Tri-City Regional Park! This Kids Fishing Clinic (for ages 15 and under) is designed to teach kids how to fish, while giving them an opportunity to catch a few from our lake. Whether this is your first time fishing or you’re a regular, you will have fun trying to catch some fish. Instructors will be on hand to demonstrate, assist and answer any questions.
Please bring your own pole. If you do not have a fishing pole there will be some available for loan. The lake will be stocked with Rainbow Trout and there will be a two-fish limit. Prizes for tagged fish.
Registration is required at the OC Parks check-in table on the day of the event. Event and parking are free!

Nature Walk – O’Neill Regional Park, 30892 Trabuco Canyon Road, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92678, ocparks.com/events
Event is 9am – 10:30am and is free for all ages. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Join our Naturalists on a nature walk and learn about Trabuco Canyon animals and nature. Light to moderate walk on mostly paved roads. Meet at the Nature Center just inside the main entrance of the park. Event is conditional on the weather.

Caspers Adventure Day is a free, fun-filled family event! Free popsicles will be given to the first 400 people in attendance! Additional food will be available for purchase from the Tamarindo Truck and Front Porch Pops.

International Children’s Day –

Join us for the Aquarium of the Pacific’s ninth annual International Children’s Day festival, celebrating the amazing talents of children of all cultures. For the sixth year, The Ecology Center will host a day of free, fun ways to learn and implement practical ecological solutions to get you inspired and empowered to celebrate Earth Day every day!
