Everything You Need For Your New Newborn

Are you in the first days of bringing your newborn home from the hospital? If so, then you might be wondering whether you have everything you need. Here are some of the must have purchases we suggest that you don’t miss off your list when preparing for a little one.

Bassinet

First, you need to make sure that you are getting a bassinet. The benefit of a bassinet is that it provides a place your little one can sleep that you can rock gently. Bassinets are usually wooden and the top can be taken off the rocking part so you can easily carry it around with you. Bassinets are not long term and your baby will grow out of it quite quickly. But it will be useful for the first couple of months.

Since bassinets don’t provide a long term solution, you also need to make sure that you are getting a crib relatively quickly as well. As with other options on this list, it’s important to make sure that you are checking out safety features. You would also be wise to invest in a travel crib so your baby always has a comfortable, safe place to sleep regardless of where you are.

Pushchair

You’ll need a pushchair as soon as you bring your little one home. That way, you can make sure that you will be able to take them out and about without carrying them everywhere. New parents are often worried that pushchairs are going to be expensive. But this isn’t always the case. You can get high quality pushchairs that are going to fit into your budget without any issues. You might also want to look at pushchairs that come with extra features as well. For instance, some pushchairs include a detachable car seat. So, you don’t have to worry about buying this separately if you do have your own vehicle.

Plenty Of Clothes

You do need to make sure that you have plenty of clothes for your child. That way, you’ll never reach the point where you don’t have any clothes for them to change into. This can be a problem, particularly in the first few months where they are constantly being sick. It’s also important to have clothing for different temperatures too. Remember, babies can’t regulate their own temperature. So, it will be up to you to ensure that they do remain at the right level.

Diaper Holder

If you want to make things easier on yourself, then it’s definitely worth investing in a diaper holder. With an option like this, you can easily get rid of dirty diapers as soon as you remove them. The best holders will squish your diapers down to size. So, they won’t take up a lot of room in your trash. This is incredibly useful. These items aren’t too expensive, so they’ll easily fit into your typical budget.

Changing Table

Next, you should think about choosing the right changing table. A changing table is a lifesaver and makes it far easier to ensure that you can effectively clean your child while getting them into a new diaper. As your child gets older, this becomes more of a struggle. So, it’s definitely worth thinking about getting a changing table with a lip on each side. In doing so, you can make sure that you don’t end up in a situation where your little one can easily roll off. You can also get changing tables with different storage options and this is very useful.

High Chair

A high chair will be useful for when your baby starts eating solid foods. But, you’ll reach this stage before you know it, so it’s best to be prepared. When you are choosing a high chair, make sure that you look at the reviews for safety features. You should also choose a high chair with a detachable seat. That way, it’s easier to clean up any mess that your baby makes during meal time.

Nursery

Next, you should think about setting up a nursery in your home. This is going to make things easier when it’s time to transfer your little one to their new room. That should happen quite quickly as babies start to form significant attachments by about six months. You need to make sure that they don’t get too used to sleeping in a room with you. You have a lot of choices to make with a nursery. For instance, you might want to think about asking for some personalised baby gifts from friends and family members to ensure it is completely unique to your little one. You could also think about choosing a colour palette and a theme.

Toys

You do need to make sure that you have at least a few toys for your little one. That way, you can ensure that you are keeping them stimulated throughout the day. When you buy or give your child toys, make sure that you are being careful that it is for the right age bracket. Toys for older children have small pieces which can easily be bitten or chewed right off. As such, they don’t tend to be suitable for babies.

Muslins And Bibs

Finally, you need to make sure that you do have a few muslins and plenty of bibs. Muslins are going to be useful for cleaning up everything from spit to actual vomit and ensure that your baby doesn’t stay dirty for very long at all. The big benefit of muslins is that they are light so you can easily pack them up and take them with you. As well as this, they are easy to clean too. Throw them in the washing machine and they’ll be good as new in no time. As for bibs, plastic ones are great because they can be wiped clean, disinfected and used again.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key items that you need to buy for your newborn. When it comes to babies, there’s really no such thing as being over prepared.
