Exclusive Look Behind-the-Scenes of General Hospital

We attended as a guest of Disney

While I was pregnant with my youngest son, I was put on bed rest very early on in the pregnancy. Being stuck in bed for 16 weeks, I watched a lot of television, and one of my favorite shows to watch every day was General Hospital. Every afternoon, I would look forward to seeing what was happening in Port Charles. I continued to watch it daily while caring for my baby, but as he got active, I found myself having to record and then watch a week full of episodes during the weekend.

Being such a fan of the show, I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to visit the set of General Hospital. The morning that I was going to be visiting, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I couldn’t wait to visit, and when we arrived on the set, I loved that it looked just a real hospital in the front of the building.

We took some photos at the front of the building and then got a chance to go inside. Inside the building, there were a couple of sets up including the courtroom, the Quartermaine living room, the restaurant, and of course – the hospital. We all got to take pictures, look around and even got to see some spoilers.

I loved every minute of the tour and could have spent all day exploring the set of General Hospital. After we were done touring the set, we got an opportunity to have a sneak peek of the upcoming episode that features the Nurses Ball.

While I was hoping to meet my favorite stars of the show, Sonny Corinthos, Jason Morgan, and Carly Corinthos, I did get an opportunity to meet Alexis Davis and Joshua Swickard, who plays “Detective Harrison Chase.”

Joshua Swickard delivers an unforgettable performance during the nurse’s ball, and we had the honor of talking with him about the filming along with the Executive Producer Frank Valentini. It was amazing to find out how much work goes into filming each episode, especially the nurse’s ball episode. If you’re not yet a loyal fan and unaware of the nurse’s ball…The nurse’s ball was founded in 1994 by Port Charles resident Lucy Coe, and the fictional charity event is dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness and research, and the event promises to be this year’s event not to miss.

General Hospital recently celebrated its 55th anniversary and is the longest running American soap opera currently in production. Don’t miss watching the Nurses Ball that airs tomorrow on The ABC Television Network. Learn more about General Hospital online, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Make sure and tune in and watch General Hospital weekdays on ABC (check your local listings) or streaming or on the app.
