Fall Fun at the Irvine Park Pumpkin Patch

We attended as guest of the venue.

Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin PatchOne of the hands-down best pumpkin patches in Orange County is Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch.  We go nearly every year and are always impressed.

Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch

Located at Irvine Regional Park, and set among rural scenery and tall oak and sycamore trees, it is the quintessential pumpkin patch.  There are tons of fun activities for the kids, various photo ops, a train, haunted house and, of course, pumpkins!

Admission to the pumpkin patch is free and tickets for the different rides and actives can be purchased individually or in a book (for a discount). If your kids are like ours, they’ll want to do everything, so we think it best to opt for the book and let everyone have their fun!

Activities include: train ride, hay ride, moon bounce, John Deer races, carnival games, cookie decorating, ring-a-pumpkin, panning for gold, face painting, haunted house and straw maze.  There is also a cute little snack shack with yummy treats such as soft pretzels and caramel corn.

For some reason panning for gold is always a huge hit with our littles (maybe because of the treasure they get to take home and continue to enjoy), so this is always one of our first stops at Irvine Park Railroad.

Also, this year the John Deer races were a favorite for our little guy.  He couldn’t do it himself yet, but a ride with Big Sis was just as fun!

The best times to go to Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch seem to be weekdays, or first thing when it open on weekends, as it can get crowded mid-day on Saturday and Sunday. As we all know, October in Southern California can be warm – as it was when we visited on a weekend in September that was in the 90s! – but not to fear, the patch is located under massive oaks and sycamores and has plentiful shade. Also on Irvine Park premises, are pony rides, the Orange County Zoo, paddle boat and bicycle rentals, a playground and picnic areas, so there is more than enough to do if you choose to make a family fun day out of the patch and the park.

Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch is located at 1 Irvine Park Road in Orange and is open September 17- October 31, 2016.
