Fall in Love with Your Health

We attended as a guest of the venue

Did you know that October is known as the month for taking action in your life? The year 2017 is very meaningful all on its own; a significant time to set the foundation of your life for the next nine years and it happens to be the Year of the Woman.

So, this month was the perfect time to share “Fall in Love with Health,” and such a treat with my sister and daughter too. We left our obligations, errands and life expectations at the door, to share with about 75 other women our spirits, kind hearts, and thirst for knowledge on how we can take better care of ourselves and each other.

Kelly Lam, Founder of The Whole Purpose, continues to bring us opportunities to recognize what we need as women. It takes great energy to be a modern woman; we wear a variety of hats from mother, wife, friend, sister, worker bee’s and we’re supposed to do it with a smile on our face at all times. We’re human and need to remember the one person that we need to tend to the most to be this beautiful “Wonder Woman,” is ourselves.

We’re excited to share some of what we learned with all of you.

Cheri Swanson, Nutritionist with Swanson Health center, is always sharing such valuable information with us. We’re talking about choices you can implement right away, so we’re going to share ways to keep your immune system up and stay healthy during the Fall & Winter months.

It’s important to keep an eye on your Vitamin D3 levels from September thru the end of April when we might not be getting as much sun exposure, it helps to prevent cancer and keeps your immune system stronger. As always, you should find out your own levels of D3 through your doctor.

You can raise your immunity by eating only during the first 10 hour period, allowing the remainder 14 hours for your body to detoxify and digest the food eaten. We need to be careful with sugar, as every teaspoon consumed causes the body to lose 5 hours of immunity. Quite the eye-opener!

A perfect mix of fiber, fat, and protein to eat for breakfast would be eggs, berries, and avocados. Pastured eggs have 19x more nutrients per egg and a perfect lipid profile? You can literally eat 20 pastured eggs a week and never have a lipid rise. Eat the yolk, that’s where all of the essential fatty acids are, and those are good fats. Eating egg whites only? You’re basically eating air, and there is no nutritional gain in eating egg whites.

If you do find yourself with a sore throat this season, do an apple cider gargle at the onset. We learned that the soreness in our throat is actually the white blood cells going to work to try to heal it. If you have a fever, drink lots of water along with coconut water.

We spent our morning in a variety of break out sessions too. Exploring and experiencing a lovely Meditation, Mat Pilates, Acupressure, and Cupping. Some of our favorites shares of the day were:

*A simple calming meditation during driving with eyed open; at every stop sign take a moment to breathe in and breathe out
*Our attitude can change the chemistry in our bodies, so always be mindful of what you think and the choices you make daily
*Remember to take care of ourselves and each other
*We can always come back to our home; within our own hearts

We ended the day gathered to hear Elissa Goodman, Cleanse, and Holistic Nutritionist share the value of eating healthy. A reminder to us that “no matter where you are physically, emotionally or mentally, NOW is the time to take your health into your own hands.” After defeating cancer through the form of nutrition she shares her knowledge and even has a 21 day cleanse available as well as a wonderful Soup Cleanse. You can pick up her book, “Cancer Hacks,” a holistic guide to overcoming fears and healing cancer to learn more.

We can all look forward to more events from The Whole Purpose, and we’re excited to find out what’s next. Always remember to be gracious with yourself; rest, rejuvenate and share your goodness, there can never be too much of it.
