Family Events Happening in Orange County This Weekend September 7th-8th


Summer is over for almost all of the kids in Orange County, and this weekend is packed full of family events happening in Orange County. Whether your family is looking for an adventure at the Tall Ships Festival or meeting your favorite Angel’s player, this weekend has something for every family to enjoy.

Saturday, September 7th


The Tall Ships Festival

Bring your family out to go aboard these historic ships at The Ocean Institute this weekend. The festival is free to the public, and will be happening all weekend. Come prepared to have an experience of a lifetime as your children will take a glimpse into a another era while exploring these beautiful ships.

Meet n’ Greet with LA Angel’s Pitcher
The OC Zoo
1 Irvine Park Road
Orange, CA

Come early for your children to enjoy a meet n’ greet with the Los Angeles pitcher, Hank Conger. The zoo opens at 10am, presentation begins at 11am, and there are a limited number of seats available. We recommend arriving early to get an opportunity to take a photo, and have an autograph with this popular local baseball player. The event is free to the public, but parking is $5 per vehicle.

Bring your Star Wars fan to the Orange Public Library and History Center for a costume contest, story time, and meet-n-greet with their favorite characters from 2pm to 4pm. Don’t forget your light saber for this family fun event this weekend.

Aquarium of the Pacific 5K Walk

It’s time for the second annual 5K walk at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. On-site registration is available from 5:30am to 6:30am, the day of the walk. (t-shirts are not guaranteed for last-minute registrations) The cost is $52 for adults, and $44 for children under the age of 17.

Brick Making and Panning for Gold at the San Juan Capistrano Mission

San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

Bring your children to enjoy a day of history at the San Juan Capistrano Mission, and participate in brick making and panning for gold at the mission. The cost of the events are $3 per person, and $1 for members. The events will happen from 11am to 3pm.

Free Admission to Orange County Museums for Bank of America Customers

Enjoy free entrance to museums across Southern California this weekend on behalf of Bank of America. There are more than 150 participating cultural institutions including The Discovery Science Center (Sunday only), The Laguna Art Museum, The Autry, and more. Just show your Bank of America credit or debit card to take advantage of free museum admission this weekend.
