Family Film Review: Alice Through the Looking Glass
We attended a screening as a guest of Disney
The magical film “Alice Through the Looking Glass” officially opens in theaters today. The film is going to be a blockbuster sensation, taking families on a magical and mystical journey. The movie is a cinematic masterpiece that combines stunning visual effect with timeless storytelling. The movie delivers a beautiful message on the importance for time, family, and woman empowerment. Our entire family was captivated by the film, and here are our personal thoughts on why your family should see “Alice Through the Looking Glass” this summer.
Mom Opinion
As a mother of a teenage daughter, I feel it is important to expose young teen and pre-teen girls to movies that send the message of ‘anything is possible.’ The movie touched my heart, and I did cry during multiple parts of the film. I felt that it opened up some great conversations with my children after seeing it, and I can’t wait to take my kids back to see it again this summer. There are a couple of scenes that are slightly scary for younger children, and I would recommend it for children ages 5+.
Dad Opinion
The story was captivated, and I felt immersed into Alice’s magical world. It comes back to family, and that no matter what happens ‘family is family.’ Johnny Depp gave another epic performance as The Mad Hatter, and Mia Wasikowska took her role as Alice to a whole new level. It is the best story of Alice that has been told, and will be a timeless film that families will enjoy watching for years to come.
Teenage Son Opinion (14 years old)
The visual effects were epic. My favorite part was when Alice was going back in time, and they made her journey of time travel look like an ocean with memories hidden in the waves. It was rad. Then there was “time” who had the coolest costume, and was my favorite character.
Tween Daughter Opinion (12 years old)
I loved the movie. It was my favorite movie of all time. I loved the dresses in the movie, and The Mad Hatters outfit was super fun too. The movie made me think a lot about myself, my life, and who I am as a girl. I was able to talk with my mom about Alice after the movie, and I hope that my friends will stay my friends forever, just like Alice.
Kiddo (9 years old)
It was cool. The best part was when the time was breaking, and the robots were trying to stop the giant clock from breaking. The Mad Hatters house – I want to live there.
“Alice Through the Looking Glass” is rated PG. The film comes out in theaters today!
