Fit for a Princess Expo

Expo

Welcome to Disney’s Wide World of Sports! From February 20-22, this is the home of the Fit for a Princess Expo held in connection with Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Every great race has a great expo and in my opinion Disney expos are among the best. That may very well be because I’m a big Disney fan. Along with all the amazing vendors that cater to the running world, we also get vendors who produce special merchandise for the Run Disney races and of course, the official Run Disney merchandise store.

The expo can be a little overwhelming though – there are a lot of vendors and the aisles are not overly spacious. You will find everything your running princess’ heart desires at the Fit for a Princess Expo. They had limited edition Dooney & Burke items, Official Run Disney shoes from New Balance, commemorative items, sparkle running skirts, running sunglasses, shoe bling, compression socks and sleeves, fuel belts, gps watches – you name it, they had it.

I suggest that if you have time – go twice. On your first visit, pick up your race packet and simply browse the expo. Don’t purchase anything except perhaps your official Run Disney commemorative items – those do sell out! Take pictures at all the fun photo ops and get a feel for what is available, and then back a second time to shop. You’ll have an idea of what is important to you and what you can maybe wait or pass on – and you won’t feel quite so overwhelmed by everything that is available.

I love how Disney takes their race theme and weaves it through every aspect of the event. I don’t think any other race has a red carpet entrance to the expo – pretty cool for all those princesses who are running in the races! The various photo opportunities are perfectly tied into the theme. They had a special backdrop for princesses who signed up as a team – teams received a special team bib along with a pink sash! They also had backdrops for each of the races: 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, & Glass Slipper Challenge. Lady Foot Locker had a beautiful set of fairy princess wings along with a crown & wand for picture-taking and various other vendors had fun photo opportunities. I think one of my favorite sights was all the Disney employees – including men – who got into the princess spirit of the weekend and dress in tutus and tiaras. This just doesn’t happen anywhere but a Disney race!

The Fit for a Princess Expo is the kick off for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. The races include; Kids Dashes, The Royal Family 5K, The Enchanted 10K, and the Princess Half Marathon. Runners who register for the Glass Slipper Challenge compete in the 10K and Half Marathon.
