Five Best Ways to Stay Cool at Disneyland Resort

We attended as guest of Disney.

As the kids gear up to head back-to-school, September traditionally ends up being the hottest month of the year. We always get the email news blasts from the school advising us to send the kids in the uniform shorts vs. pants, put on extra sunscreen, and pack extra water. September is also a time that local residents flock to Disneyland Resort, knowing the most of the Summer vacationers have returned home for their kids to go back to school. A warm weekend day in September is also one of our favorite times to visit the Disneyland Resort, and these are our five best ways to stay cool at Disneyland Resort.

Located in ‘A Bugs Land’ at Disney California Adventure is an interactive splash pad that is our favorite place to cool down from the heat. What looks like a giant faucet, will provide your kids with endless laughter as they run through the splashing water. Now, this splash pad is not just for kids – adults can be a kid for the day and run through the sprinkling water to cool down before taking a spin with ‘Fancis’ on the ‘Ladybug Boogie’ ride at ‘Flik’s Fun Fair.’

A Summer tradition in our family, has always been to see how many times we can ride on Grizzly Rapids at Disney California Adventure before become completely soaked. While enjoying our end of Summer family celebration at Disneyland Resort this past weekend, we managed to ride Grizzly Rapids an entire five times before getting ultimately soaked – a family record! Your family will not only create unforgettable memories on this ride but will also cool down from the warm Summer sun.

What not only serves as a souvenir for your children, is also the most brilliant invention brought to the Disneyland Resort – the personal water mister. The water/fan sprayer saved our family from the record breaking heat at our last trip to Disneyland by offering us a refreshing “cool-down” within moments of turning on the device. At the end of the day, our children were thrilled to bring the souvenir home as a memory from their trip to Disneyland.

Your family will splish and splash while riding in a wooden log on Splash Mountain at Disneyland. This is one of our favorite family rides at Disneyland to sing along with our favorite Bear Country Jamboree characters, but also to get the ultimate “splash” as we drop to the bottom of the hill at the end of the ride. We do warn you – that sitting in front of the log ride is the ultimate splash zone seat!

For a quick cool-down at Disneyland, there are two misters at both of the parks. At Disneyland Resort, there is a rocket shaped mister located right next to the outdoor dining patio of Red Rockett’s Pizza Port, and a second mister at Disney California Adventure Park right in front of the ‘Soaring over California’ ride. Your children can cool-down at one of the misters to re-fuel their energy to begin having more fun throughout the park.

If you are not interested in getting “wet” to cool down at Disneyland, bring your family on a ride through ‘It’s a Small World,’ to cool-down and celebrate the diversity of our world on this air-conditioned ride.
