Five FREE Things to do at The Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train

We visited as a guest of the venue

The Irvine Park Railroad becomes transformed during the holiday season into a magical world filled with lights, magic and merriment. Families begin purchasing their tickets early in the Fall season to get an opportunity to take their children on the “polar express” to whisper into the ear of Santa Clause their Christmas list. Families who are on a tight budget during the holiday season can still experience the magic of the Irvine Park Railroad by bringing their children to do these five free things at Irvine Park Railroad during the holidays.

Have Storytime with Mrs. Claus
Mrs. Claus is eagerly awaiting children to join her for a nightly story time. Give your children a cup of hot cocoa, and then sit on the hay barrels while she reads a beloved Christmas story to your children. Before heading off to enjoy the next activity, don’t forget to snap a picture with Mrs. Claus and wish her a Merry Christmas. (If your family doesn’t have the budget to purchase train tickets to see Santa…we are sure Mrs. Claus will help to deliver your kids Christmas list to Santa for your children)

Get Lost Together
Go on a fun adventure getting lost together in Frosty’s Maze. Your family can spend endless hours together laughing and giggling while running around the giant holiday hay maze. Who in your family will be the first to find their way out? Bring a small prize for the child in your family who finishes the maze first.

Have dinner under the stars
The one thing that is special about visiting the Irvine Park Railroad at night is all the stars. The park is centered high in the hills and far away from the smog that hides the stars above many homes in Orange County. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy it with your family at one of the many picnic tables located throughout the park and surrounded by twinkling holiday lights.

Look at lights
The entire Irvine Park is adorned with Christmas lights. Once your family is done having dinner, go for a walk throughout the park where your children will be immersed in a magical world filled with twinkling lights.

Get Creative
Your children are invited to make their wish list for Santa and color in the Christmas coloring corner. They have the paper, crayons, and the only thing missing is you!

Don’t forget to capture special photos throughout Irvine Park Railroad at the different picture stands located throughout the park. If your family wants to board the “Polar Express” to visit Santa Claus, tickets are $12 per person (children under the age of 24 months are free). Parking is FREE after 5pm.

The Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train will be open nightly until December 23rd. They are located inside Irvine Regional Park at 1 Irvine Park Road in Orange.
