Five Steps for Picking a Financial Advisor
Interview at least three candidates. Ask your friends, family, accountant, or attorney for recommendations. Financial Advisors also work closely with health insurance brokers, casualty insurance agents, and HR consultants, so if you work with any of these professionals they may be able to make a recommendation as well. Financial Advisors adhere to the professional ethic of confidentiality so neither your information, nor the information of who gave the referral, will be shared with either party. Also, some Financial Advisors offer educational workshops, so this is a good way to meet them and see their communication style.
