The Force Was with Many for the Star Wars Run Disney Half Marathon Weekend

What a spectacular event put on by Run Disney! They out did themselves with the Star Wars Run Disney half marathon weekend. I did not run the half marathon this year, I did run the 10K, and I have to say it was by far my favorite 10K course that I’ve ever run. Because 4.5 of the 6.2 miles went through the parks, which is AWESOME! The Star Wars Characters were abundant everywhere, and the costumes that everyone was wearing were amazing, just jaw-dropping creativity.

The excitement of the other runners is palpable. The Star Wars theme brought out people this year that are not normally runners, but it turned them into runners. So in addition to putting together a fabulous race, it brought families together, and they ran races together when it had previously just been one of the family members running.

My friends David and Cheryl Kramp and the parents of two awesome kids Logan and Lukas. Cheryl has participated in the Run Disney races for many years while her husband has cheered her on from the sidelines because he is awesome that way.

Months ago when the Star Wars Half Marathon Inaugural weekend, the Star Wars Super Fan David decided to run the Rebel Challenge with his wife! So the training commenced. Not only did he run the half marathon but he also ran all three races of the weekend, the 5K on Friday, the 10K, and the half marathon. The Force was very strong in him. Their children ran the 5K with them on Friday, so the entire family was able to participate, and it made everyone happy, healthy and they took home a boatload of bling. Because let’s be honest, we run for bling 😉

I regret not doing the entire weekend, but time and life were in front of me. The Kramps took every opportunity that the Run Disney race provided, and had a ball, and can not wait until next year to do it again.

The next Run Disney race is the Tinkerbell Half Marathon weekend over Mother’s Day weekend; we’ll fly through that course sprinkling Pixie Dust soon.

May the Force Be With You.
