Free Admission to the Queen Mary for the Royal Rendevous

Exterior_Ship

On Thursday, Feb. 5, the Queen Mary will be visited by Cunard’s newest ocean liner and The Queen Mary’s sea-going “niece”, the Queen Elizabeth, who is making a port stop here in Long Beach. This will mark the first time a Cunard liner will dock and disembark passengers in the Long Beach harbor. The Queen Elizabeth is today one of the world’s most advanced passenger vessels and is currently on a global cruise. The original Queen Elizabeth was the sister-ship to Queen Mary and together made over 2000 trans-Atlantic voyages when in active service for Cunard.

This Royal Rendezvous marks only the fourth time in over three decades that another Cunard ship has visited the legendary Queen Mary; and the second time these sister ships have crossed paths since 1967 (when the original Queen Elizabeth was still in commission).

The Queen Elizabeth will berth adjacent to the Queen Mary and her arrival will begin a day-long series of events and activities to celebrate the unprecedented meeting of ships. This once-in-a-generation event will include a whistle salute by both ships and a dazzling fireworks display. Prior visits by Cunard vessels to Long Beach have been restricted to floating salutes, as the modern ships hovered in place while honoring their antecedent. The February 5TH visit will see the Queen Elizabeth dock nearby the Queen Mary – a first for Long Beach and Cunard.
Guests can board the Queen Mary starting at 10AM, free of charge with discounts on ALL Queen Mary Tours and Attractions. Please note – guests will NOT have access to the Queen Elizabeth.
