Fueling a Healthy Heart

quaker2

Giving kids a healthy breakfast in the morning is important for kids to be effective while in school. Oatmeal has been a staple breakfast item in my home since my kids were first born. It is so easy to add fruit, flax seed and more into their oatmeal giving them the nutrition they need to effectively learn while in school.

I have always been so concerned about my children’s nutrition in the morning, that I often forget about myself. It is so easy to grab a cup of coffee and run out the door to start my day. With it being American Heart Month, I have been inspired to start taking better care of my heart by also starting my day with a healthy breakfast. Quaker, a brand that is a staple in my home, is teaming up with heart-throb Chef Fabio Viviani to inspire women like me to take better care of their hearts.

What I have been learning during American Heart Month is that it just takes a couple of extra small steps to take better care of my heart, and eating a healthy breakfast is such an easy step. Heart disease is the #1 killer in Women, and with a streak of heart disease running in my family, it is so important to take care of myself.

As part of Quakers participating in American Heart Month, they are hosting a Host Breakfast sweepstakes. Entering is simple by just watching their video on YouTube, and then sharing it on Twitter under the hashtag #QuakerLove between February 14th until the 28th. One lucky winner and a guest will win a spa treatment and dine at Siena Tavern in Chicago.

Join me, Quaker, and the American Heart Association by fueling a healthy heart. It just a takes a few small steps, including eating right and choosing whole grains.
