Glamping in a Tipi under the Stars in Joshua Tree

Glamping in Joshua Tree with AirBnb was one of my favorite mother/daughter trips.

Cool camping sites in Joshua Tree

My daughter and I love visiting unique and fun places. Recently, a listing on Airbnb in Joshua Tree caught our attention. It is a place that we wanted to visit, and we added it to our travel bucket list over a year ago. During the holiday break, I surprised my daughter with an overnight to Joshua Tree to go glamping in a tipi!

Hiking to Heart Rock at Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree is just a short drive outside of Palm Springs, so we packed up our car and got ready for an unforgettable mother/daughter adventure in the desert. Before checking into our tipi for the night, we went into Joshua Tree National Park to look for “heart rock.” We went on a beautiful hike and were lucky to find the mysterious heart-shaped rock. As the sun started to set, we got back into the car and headed to the tipi to check-in for the night.

What to Expect Upon Arrival

When we arrived at the campsite, it was everything that we wanted – and more! There were a couple of different tipis and glamping tents (perfect for bigger families) on the property. We had selected to stay in the smaller tipi (The Rising Sun) that is also closest to the bathroom and facilities.

The one thing that I loved about this location is the fully stocked kitchen. In the kitchen is a refrigerator, dishes, stove, barbecue and everything you would need to make breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is also a couple of picnic tables to enjoy your meal while playing a fun game of horseshoe. Don’t want to cook? There are plenty of restaurants within a five mile radius.

All About the Bathrooms

Another great feature are the CLEAN bathrooms. There is one thing I don’t like about camping/glamping, and that is icky bathrooms. This campsite has nice clean bathrooms and an outdoor shower. Although, we didn’t end up using the shower during our stay.

Let’s talk about the tipi! The best part is where we got to sleep for the night. ‘The Rising Sun’ tipi featured one bed (complete with a heating pad) which we loved during the chilly night. There is a space heater, small cooler, and blankets. The hosts had everything that we could possibly need during our stay.

Outside there was a hammock, two chairs, and a fire pit. We enjoyed a fire during the evening while admiring the beautiful stars in the sky. After sitting by the fire, we went into our tipi where we enjoyed a restful sleep while listening to the wildlife that surrounded us.

This glamping location is ideal for big families or groups that want to glamp together. I recommend coming with friends or family and renting a couple of the tents/ tipis. Have a big barbecue and create memories that will last a lifetime together. I would recommend 1-2 nights maximum to get the full experience (we stayed one night).

Also, if you have a teen who loves Instagram photos – this is the place to bring them. There are tons of fun photo opportunities on the property so don’t forget your camera. The night that we stayed, we were the only ones on site, but I felt safe traveling alone there with my daughter knowing that the owners main home is just a short drive down the street.
