Kids Playing Doctor

Last month, I woke up with pink eye. I didn’t have time to eat lunch let alone make an appointment to see the doctor or wait hours at the walk-in. So, like many busy moms like myself, I self-treated myself by using leftover drops from one of my kid’s previous pink eye endeavors. What I didn’t know, until recently, was that I could have gotten a virtual consultation with a practitioner using Health eXpress for only $39 while on the sidelines of my son’s football field.

When self-treating, symptoms usually return, which is why it is not recommended that parents don’t see a practitioner when feeling under the weather or ill. Within days, I found my pink eye symptoms returning and ended up in the waiting room while traveling abroad in a foreign country to get treatment.

Health eXpress has practitioners available 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week PST, with no appointments needed, and the wait time is usually less than five minutes. Parents can get a diagnosis, prescription or prescription refill during the online appointment.

How does it work? I recommend parents signing up for the service now vs. when someone in the family is sick, and needing treatment. Then, when you need the service, you can quickly get the help you need.

Once you’ve registered for Health eXpress, you can log-in from any of your digital devices to get a diagnosis (they even have a mobile app). The service is safe, secure and confidential. It is perfect for when anyone in your family has a cough, allergies, urinary tract infections, etc. The practitioners can issue a prescription if needed, and all the information from your visit can be shared with your primary practitioner.

How much does it cost? The cost is only $39 a visit, and may be partially covered by your health insurance. If they can’t treat your family member, then you don’t get charged.

Then if I come down with pink eye again or one my kids has a terrible cough, I can simply go on my computer to get a diagnosis from a highly trained practitioner. The best part is that I don’t have to worry about my kids picking up more germs when going into our pediatrician’s office.

Health eXpress isn’t there to replace your primary practitioner but to make it easier for families get health care services. Learn more about how your family can utilize the Health eXpress services online.
