Hello Kitty Cafe is finally here
We dined as a guest of the venue
As a child of the 70s, three things were very much a part of my life: Tang, The Love Boat, and Hello Kitty. Alas Tang and The Love Boat are no longer but my love of all things Sanrio continues to live strong and has been passed down to my daughter.
A couple of years ago an article surfaced about a Hello Kitty Café. Now as any good Hello Kitty loving child of the 70s would do, I searched the internet high and low and found that my vision of Kitty shaped cookies was nothing but a pipedream.
So I thought! Fast forward to Winter 2016 and the ramblings of a pop-up Hello Kitty Café surfaced. I didn’t want to get my hopes up and didn’t listen to the gossip but then in May I was minding my own business, walking around the spectrum when I saw the sign of signs: HELLO KITTY CAFÉ POP-UP CONTAINER COMING SUMMER 2016.
After a long squeal of excitement (by long I squealed for close to a month and yeah my throat is still sore) I told my daughter our time has come, the café is actually happening. After I had liked their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/HelloKittyCafe/?fref=ts, I kept myself updated on all things Hello Kitty Cafe. Then I got the phone call; I got invited to their media launch!!!
Which let me tell you was spectacular cause I got to nosh on mini bites of their signature desserts and quench my thirst on their assortment of fruit creations and teas.
No joke the Hello Kitty Café is the quintessential mother and daughter girl’s days out. So here’s my recommendation, take your little one out for a mani/pedi, then maybe a little window shopping, and end it with sweet treats and refreshing drinks at the pinkest, cutest, most perfect place ever.
They’ve been open for a few days but this weekend is when the party actually starts. The Grand Opening Celebration begins on Friday, July 15th through Sunday, July 17th!
They will be open from 11am-10pm each day in the Giant Wheel Court at the Irvine Spectrum in front of what once was Macy’s. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of all things Hello Kitty you must visit just for the cuteness factor and also because their desserts and drinks are amazing!
