Holiday Fun at Knott’s Merry Farm

We visited as a guest of Knott’s

I love the holidays.  I love the smell of cinnamon and pumpkin spicy.  I love the way that the lights twinkle at night.  I love how the malls, houses and pretty much everywhere are decorated.  The holidays warm my heart and give me more reasons to celebrate.

Every year around October I start my holiday list of things to do and once mid-November comes along I start getting antsy because I know it’s time to pull out my list and start checking off my must dos.

Orange County is a holiday loving county which means my list is long and the season is short so I need to pack every weekend with fun activities.

On the top of my list is Knott’s Merry Farm, yes you read it right MERRY as in you will be so merry that you will be smiling from cheek to cheek.

Let’s start off with the fact that Knott’s knows how to throw a holiday party.  Sure everywhere has Santa, but Knott’s has Santa and then so much more!

They have shopping and snow and ice skating Snoopy and A Christmas Carol and decorations and holiday cheer and carolers and dancers and shows and oh my gosh they have so much I can’t see straight – I’m in a holiday season coma of happiness!

No really they have so much holiday fun packed into one park that you have to go all season long to fully enjoy it all!  Our holiday fun began as we entered Knott’s early in the day and could hear caroling in the distance.

Like a charmer to a snake their tune mesmerized us and we found ourselves floating towards the direction of their jolly tune.  As we decked the halls and fa la la la’d the tune, in the corner of my eye I spied the jolliest sight of all, a sign that read Santa’s Christmas Cabin!

We bid adieu and headed towards the cabin and about 10 feet from the cabin the sweet smell of the holidays filled the air.  The cabin was a holiday dream come true filled with kettle corn, cookies, hot chocolate, egg nog and so much more and in the back of the cabin was the prettiest scene of all – Santa sitting next to a fireplace with stocking hung and cheer ready to spread.

We met with the big guy and a let him know that we had been super nice before we grabbed some milk and cookies to go.

We had a date with Ebenezer Scrooge as his story was to be told in A Christmas Carol at the Bird Cage Theater.

The show was about 30 minutes long which was perfect for my kids.

They got the gist of the story and had no time to be bored.

They loved seeing the actors tell the story of a broken man who had turned his back on the spirit of the holidays and how by morning he had found the holiday spirit and turned a new leaf in life.

The actors were phenomenal, talented and very inspirational.  I’m telling you nothing gets you into the mood of the holidays more than A Christmas Story and if you don’t agree then bah humbug to you!

There was so much more that we needed to do but I didn’t want to rush the kids, so I decided that we would have to break down the events into multiple trips like I suggest above.

The main show that I wanted to catch was the Merry Christmas, Snoopy! Ice Show.  If you haven’t seen the show then you need to stop reading right now and buy your ticket!  No really it’s that good.  Words that came out of my kid’s mouths were amazeballs, mind-blowing, fabulous with glitter (not sure what that means but my kid who said it is 7 so go with it) and no way can we see it again please!

Now if that isn’t an awesome endorsement of the show then I don’t know what is.  You’ve got skating, costumes, beautiful sets, Snoopy and snow!  Really it snowed twice in the theater and did I mention doves!  Yeah you read right white doves fly onto the stage and boom mind is blown!

Just as the show finished we were able to catch Snoopy’ Merriest Tree Lighting which was a perfectly magical way to end our visit to Knott’s.

I’m getting so excited just writing about my time at Knott’s and there is still so much holiday stuff we didn’t get to such as the Calico Saloon Christmas Show or The Gift of the Magi or Christmas Time Is Here, Charlie Brown and of course the Christmas on Engine 41.  Knott’s Merry Farm will run from November 21-January 3.  To purchase tickets or learn more please visit and have a great time at Knotts!

I’m an OC mom of two and photographer. I love living in Southern California and want to expose my children to all that it offers. I love taking my kids on adventures and capturing their every moment so much so that my kids find it odd if I don’t take their pictures. You can see my work on
