Holiday – A Swanky New Lounge

We visited as a guest of the venue

On a recent Friday evening we had the chance to pop into Holiday, a charming yet classy cocktail lounge in Costa Mesa. After a very long week, it was nice to stroll into the newly opened Red Room and sit down with friends to relax.

We found a cool little vibe; with some sweet, private seating areas and red leather sofas, high back chairs and of course, seating at the bar too. We tried out the bar since we wanted the chance to interact with Andy the bartender. The bartender can often be key to a great place; Andy is friendly, cheerful and somehow knew the perfect drink for each of us.

The Red Room, which opened last weekend and has a specialty menu featuring four new cocktails. We were given a small sample taste from each to find our favorite to order. This was helpful for us to share with you.

The Chili Chaplin is a spicy, refreshing number with Green Chili Vodka, fresh Lime Juice, muddled with cucumbers and jalapenos, topped with ginger beer and served in a ice cold copper mug. This drink is icy cold, light, delicious and had just the right about of heat.

A favorite was the Down The Rabbit Hole featuring Suerta Reposado Tequila, muddled pineapple, fresh lime juice and agave nectar serviced a bucket glass. We tend to enjoy the lighter, less sweet cocktails and this was a good choice for us. Plus, with a name like this one. How could we resist?

Next up was the classy number, Red Betty, she certainly caught us by surprise. The presentation of Tito’s Vodka, muddled strawberries, fresh squeezed lime juice, cane sugar all shaken and poured into a cold martini glass. A simple garnish with a basil leaf floating on top. The aroma of basil as we sipped on this fresh strawberry cocktail was a lovely combination; giving true meaning to a craft cocktail. Loved!

Some folks love the simplicity of a good Old Fashion. You’ll find this in The Elder Fashion with Henebery Spiced Whiskey, muddled orange with Luxardo cherry, a splash of bitter, cane sugar poured into a nice, heavy bucket glass for sipping. This little gem will help bring a smile to your face as you visit with friends.

Holiday is a swanky place with a nice vibe; you can sit down quietly with your honey and catch up or round up a group of friends and come out for the DJ. You might want to dress up a bit too; with velvet ropes, ladies in dresses and suits, it’s time to step up a notch!

Holiday is located at: 719 W. 19th Street, Costa Mesa, CA.
