The season two finale of Nashville will be on the ABC Television Network tomorrow, May 14th from 10-11pm. I have never seen Nashville before I was in Los Angeles last week, and got a sneak peek of tomorrow nights finale.

The #1 thing that resonated with me from the episode was the music. The music was not anything like I had expected. I expected the show to be full of the traditional country music I am used to hearing on the local radio stations.

After seeing the finale, we talked with the executive producers of the show, Dee Johnson and Callie Khouri about the music. “The thing that wanted me to do this show was all of the great music. Most of the songs are heartfelt songs that you usually wouldn’t find on country radio,” said Johnson.

“I love that our show is a platform to get this music out there. There are so many brilliant song writers, and so many that you wouldn’t call country,” said Johnson.

All of the music in the show is sung by the actors, so all of the actors had to sing as part of their auditions. “Not a whole lot of actors can sing really well and act. It was hard to find people,” said Khouri.

The one actor they knew they wanted was Connie Britton. They cast her to the show without ever hearing her sing and when they met her for the first time she said,”It’s been a long time since anyone has paid me to sing.”

The music is captivating, and the story is heartwarming. Even if you’ve never seen Nashville before, you’ll easily connect with the actors and the storyline by watching the season finale tomorrow night.

  1. The music is the #1 reason to watch Nashville! We never discussed them in the interview, but the two daughters are my favorite singers on the show.
