International Banana Museum
While on our way out to explore the Salton Sea, a giant banana sitting in a lawn chair on the side of the road caught our eye. We pulled the car over to capture a picture and discovered the International Banana Museum.
I’ll be honest that we were slightly (ok majorly) nervous about entering the museum. It looked like a run-down gas station. At first, I told my husband that I would go in first to check it out, and then he insisted that we all stick together.
The minute we opened the door that looked like a door going into an underground club, we were surprised to discover a magical “banana” world. The room had literally gone bananas and was covered from floor to ceiling with banana memorabilia. There was a banana bar where the kids took a seat and ordered ice cream and frozen bananas for dessert. Even though the kids ordered dessert, my husband and I still had to pay the $1 admission fee.
It ended up being one of the funkiest and coolest places we have ever visited together as a family. The kids spent almost an hour poking around the museum looking at all the different “banana” themed items. For about $7 we were able to get two ice cream cones, one frozen banana, and two museum admissions.
After we had been done exploring this wacky wonder, we continued along the road to exploring the Salton Sea. When visiting this area with your family, I highly recommend making a stop at the International Banana Museum. It is guaranteed to be a fun adventure for your family that you’ll never forget.
