Keeping kids active this summer at Pirate Coast Paddle Summer Camp
Many parents struggle with keeping their kids active during the summer. With the distractions of video games and television shows, many children don’t get the physical exercise that their growing bodies need during the long hot summer days.
With the extreme summer heat that we are having in Orange County, sending kids to summer camp that keeps them active and cool is the perfect way to get kids excited about going outside and ….playing! My kids have been attending Pirate Coast Paddle Summer Camp for the past couple of years, and it has always ended up being their favorite summer memories.
The camp is set-up as the traditional summer camps that I attended in the 80’s with cool counselors, and good old fashioned fun. When the kids first arrive in the morning, they help get set-up for the day by bringing the paddle boards down to the shores in Newport Dunes.
Then the fun on the water begins!
Kids not only have fun on the water, but learn vital skills on how to properly SUP (stand-up paddle board). My kids have been able to successful SUP with us together as a family while traveling to different countries because of the skills that they have learned at Pirate Coast.
Since Pirate Coast Paddle is located at the Newport Dunes, the kids spend one of the days playing on the giant floats. They also participate in scavenger hunts, mile paddles, and end camp with a family barbecue.
Pirate Coast Paddle is one-summer camp that your kids are going to love visiting this summer. The camp runs Monday through Friday from 9am-12:30 (parents can drop-off at 8:30, and pick-up at 1pm). The cost is $275 a week, and siblings get a 10% discount. They are located inside of Newport Dunes at 1131 Back Bay Drive in Newport Beach.
