Korean-Mexican Fusion at Urban Seoul 2.0

Two of my favorite cuisines have collided at the Irvine Spectrum Center at Urban Seoul 2.0. The chic family-friendly restaurant serves a cuisine, unlike anything I have ever experienced, and quickly became one of my favorite new spots to dine in Orange County.

What is Korean-Mexican fusion food? The comforting dishes mix flavors from Korea with a hint of Western influence that boosts with incredible flavors. While dining at Urban Seoul 2.0, we sampled a variety of menu items, with these being our top picks.

Best Korean restaurants in Orange County

The restaurant features a sit-down environment that is very kid-friendly. There is a large outdoor (heated) patio and indoor dining. The indoor ambiance has a gastropub feel along with a small bar. For parents who might be looking for a cocktail, they offer a cocktail list along with beer and wine.

Tacos at Urban Seoul 2.0

As it is well-known, I love tacos. I could not wait to get a taste of a Korean-Mexican fusion taco, and it was love at first bite. The tacos come in a set of three, and it is the perfect serving. There is a choice of meat, including pork belly, gogi, spicy pork, grilled chicken, and tofu. The tacos come with hot sauce (not too hot for kids), kimchi dressed, lettuce, purple cabbage, red onions, queso fresco/cotija cheese, and gochujang aioli.

Elote Skillet

I highly recommend pairing the tacos with my favorite menu item – the elote skillet. You can’t just have one bite of this comforting dish and was some of the best elote I have ever devoured. The sizzling skillet comes with grilled corn, mayonnaise, queso fresco/cotija cheese, Korean chili flakes/smoked paprika, roasted jalapenos, and cilantro.

Chicken Mandu

My second favorite item on the menu was the chicken mandu. I loved it so much that we ended up ordering a second order. The dish is basically potstickers, but better than any I have ever had. The deep-fried potstickers are filled with chicken mandu and paired with a soy sauce vinaigrette.

Grilled Salmon Salad

When it comes to salads, grilled salmon is the best choice. The salad is large enough for two people to share and comes with a large piece of freshly grilled salmon on top. The salad has mixed greens, carrots, purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes, daikon sprouts, mandarin oranges (my favorite), and is tossed with a rosemary vinaigrette.

Grilled Shrimp Skillet

Typically, I would have ordered the Angus loco moco skillet, but I decided to try something different by getting the garlic shrimp skillet. The dish was sizzling hot and featured a large serving of shrimp seasoned with garlic paprika. It is paired with sauteed broccoli, cabbage, onions, garlic fried rice, and topped with an egg – oh my!

I can’t wait to come back to Urban Seoul 2.0 with my kids to explore more that the restaurant has to offer. It is a great spot to bring your family for lunch or dinner. Bring your appetite, because it is filling, and you’re going to want to have a taste of it all.
