LA Fleet Week is the Place for Families to Spend Labor Day Weekend

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s an F-18F Super Hornet Fighter Jet and its EA-18G Growler cousin soaring above the LA Waterfront, the newest addition to a schedule of aerial demonstrations taking place at this year’s LA Fleet Week® 2018 presented by Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime Video over Labor Day Weekend.

Running throughout the day Sept. 1 through Labor Day, Sept. 3, the captivating aerial demonstrations will be among the many attractions at the multi-day, free public celebration honoring the U.S. Sea Services.

This will be the first time that LA Fleet Week will feature the F-18, a twin-engine, supersonic combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft and its specialized version, the EA-18G Growler. The fighter jets will be operated by Strike Fighter Squadron 94 (VFA-94), Strike Fighter Squadron 22 (VFA 22), and the VAQ-139 Cougars, all U.S. Navy fighter squadrons stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore.

Other aerial highlights will include a Search & Rescue (SAR) demonstration by the U.S. Coast Guard, as well as flyovers by first responder aircraft from LA City and County fire, police and sheriffs’ units. Click here to see the full schedule of flyovers. All flyover times listed are subject to change due to weather or operational priorities.

LA Fleet Week is an annual, multi-day celebration of our nation’s Sea Services held on the LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles. Free to the public, the Labor Day Weekend event features public ship tours, military displays, equipment demonstrations, live entertainment, a kids’ STEM Expo, aerial demonstrations, a Humanitarian Disaster Relief Village Aug. 28-29 in Downtown LA, the LA Fleet Week® 2018 Navy Film Festival, the 10th Annual Conquer the Bridge Labor Day morning 5.3-mile walk/run over the Vincent Thomas Bridge, the LA Fleet Week 5 on 5 Basketball Tournament, and a Galley Wars presented by Princess Cruises culinary cook-off competition between Sailor, Marine, Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy teams.
