Legendary Family Day at the Circus

We attended as a guest of the circus

Ringling Bros And Barnum & Bailey Circus is in town. On opening night, my family and I, visited the Circus for the first time. This is surely going to be a night I will never forget and here’s why…

We started out by visiting the Animal Open House before the show. Behind security enclosures and fencing are all the animals that are in the show for you to see. My favorite was the Elephants, and my kids loved the Lion and Tigers.

This before the show attraction is free to anyone who has purchased a ticket for the Circus and it takes place 90 minutes before the show. It did get a little crowded,so if you have small children it may be a bit hard for them to see anything because the guests line the fences to view the enclosures and you have to find an opening to get right up to the gate. My kids were not bothered by this, but smaller children who do not like crowds may become overwhelmed by this.

Once our viewing was done, we headed over to the line to get in the Arena (we had VIP tickets) thanks to Ringling Bros And Barnum & Bailey Circus, so we were escorted into another door and let in when the main doors opened.

The moment we stepped foot inside the magic happened. My kids and I discovered the huge merchandise display lit up with all the fun whirley lights and toys, while the smell of fresh popcorn filled the air.

We quickly walked to our seats and then wandered down to the floor, and watched the all-access pre-show that takes place an hour before the Circus starts. This is free to everyone who has tickets to the Circus.

Clowns and other entertainers do their stuff, and the Elephants come out before the Circus starts. We were also able to take pictures and collect autographs from the performers. My 10-year-old even got a temporary tattoo put on him that they were giving out.

Before the show started we bought some food and purchased each kid a light up toy of their choice. This was especially a good idea for my toddler because in-between intermission time he got a bit antsy, so we pulled out his light and he played with it the entire time until the show started back again. Also worth mentioning is the 2 year replacement warranty on the light up toys. If something is to happen, they will replace it for up to 2 years.

An announcement was sounded and we all returned to our seats waiting for The Greatest Show On Earth to start. Giggles were heard all around and my kids were grinning from ear to ear. The Ringmaster came out and the Circus started.

The lights, drop down screens and entertainers were awesome to see parading out. We had a constant smile on all of our faces for the whole show. This show is called Legends and I understand why. They have the best acts around.

They are legendary! You will see amazing feats of daring and dangerous acts. The Torres family on their motorcycles whirling around in a giant metal orb was one of our favorites. The oohs and aahs were heard all through the arena as they added more motorcycles.

The Big Cats Trainer Alexander Lacey with all the giant cats was a sight to see. You can tell he really cares for his animals. Like I mentioned earlier the Elephants were my favorite and during the show they did not disappoint. They do tricks and one even gets dressed up as a giant Mammoth. The horse acts are really something to witness as well. I just cannot say enough about how much fun we had watching every act. Many different things go on in this show that it’s hard to properly write about how amazing it truly is. Acrobats, Clowns, Animals, Circus music and a bunch of other fun stuff is what you can expect from this show.

What I took away from this Circus will be with me forever. My 10-year-old laughed so hard and the grin on his face was beautiful. My 7-year-old had many questions and was very interested in learning about how they do their acts and my toddler sat on his dads lap for over 2 hours with a gleam in his eyes that I have never seen before. He was in such awe as the rest of us were. It was a spectacular night.

I understand that some people are concerned with the treatment of the animals and I was too. In 1995 Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Center for Elephant Conservation opened. It is nice to see they have opened this to learn more about these amazing animals and to care and teach other about them.

The next time the Circus is in town, I will be bringing my family back. This was an amazing night and the memories will be with my family forever. If you would like to visit the Circus it is open until August 3rd at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
