Lewis Family Playhouse Fall Season

Parents are invited to spark their kid’s imagination and learn to see the world in a whole new way this fall at one of the theatrical performances at the Lewis Family Playhouse. At the playhouse, the MainStreet Theatre Company provides imaginative, professional theatre productions specially designed for youth, school and family audiences mainly adapted from classic and contemporary children’s literature.

The MainStreet Theatre Company uses storytelling to introduce ideas and culture to young children. Many children see their first theatre production at the Lewis Family Playhouse, and this season, they have some beautiful productions to take your children to see.

OLIVÉRio – A Brazilian Twist

OLIVÉRio

In this joyful retelling of Oliver Twist set in modern-day Rio de Janeiro, everyone has to choose between doing what is easy and doing what is right. This colorful musical tackles issues of poverty, inequity, greed, and betrayal in a way that’s easy for young people to understand – set to a samba beat and ending with a note of hope. For ages 6+

And Then They Came For Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank

And then they came for me- Remembering the world of Anne Frank

What happens when hate and violence become normalized? This unique theatrical experience combines videotaped interviews with Holocaust survivors Ed Silverberg and Eva Schloss with actors recreating scenes from their lives as young teens during World War II. Both were friends of Anne Frank’s, and we learn firsthand their stories of terrible hardship, survival, and hope against all odds. This production is not just a historic newsreel brought to life on the stage, but also touches on many themes vital to today.

For ages 11+
Due to serious subject matter, this production is not suitable for children under 11.
