Love Hate Relationship with the Sippy Cup

When I think sippy cups I think 2 things… Love and hate.

I love the fact that they give my child the freedom to be off of a bottle or breast, but as you all might have guessed the hate part is cleaning small hard to reach pieces and the many spills and leaks from so called non spill cups.

I am happy to announce I have finally found the one non spill miracle straw sippy cup from Tommee Tippee. The explora non spill straw cup is amazing. This cup comes in a 9 ounce size that is perfect for your toddler.

The explora straw cup has a flexible silicone straw that you can cover with its built in flip-top lid. This lid takes a bit of muscle to flip open. My 15 month old could not open it, but he could flip it shut. I did not find this to be bad, but it is worth noting.

In the land of sippy cups it is good to know that this is BPA free which makes it dishwasher, microwave and sterilizer safe. The Tommee Tippee straw cup has a few parts that easily come apart inside making cleaning a snap.

Another great feature we found with this cup is that it is insulated, so cold drinks stay cold longer than other non insulated cups. This is a great feature on warm days. The explora lid is interchangeable with all Easiflow® cups made by Tommee Tippee making it usable to a wide range of ages and stages.

It also comes in many different colors and patterns. The patterns we have here are the limited edition boy and girl 2 pack sets. They are whimsical and my son really enjoyed looking at the designs when he was not drinking from the straw.

I must admit I am very happy with these cups and look forward to using them with my son for many years to come. These are very durable cups. My 15 month old being the great tester he is decided to drop the cup from his highchair numerous times onto the hard tile floor below. This cup took it like a champ every single time.

I cannot say that for other sippy cups as we have had our fair share crack in the past. The explora straw cup is geared towards the 12+ month crowd. I would say it may be a little hard for a 12 month old to sip hard enough at first from this cup. I tried it myself to be sure my son would be able to sip from it and I will say it was a bit hard at first to get anything to come from the straw, but after it did it became easy to drink from. My son did not seem to have any trouble with it. I believe this is why the explora straw cup is non spill.

If you are in the market for a new cup I would highly suggest giving this straw cup a try. It will save you a lot of time from cleaning spills and also save you money because you will no longer have to fill your cupboards with other so called non spill cups.
