Luna Grill-The Ultimate Kabobary in Lake Forest


Fresh, healthy, and flavorful. Those are 3 words I would use to describe Luna Grill. This fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant is known for its all-fresh, high-quality, made-to-order menu. All the meats on the menu are all natural and have no added growth hormones or antibiotics. Their chicken has no added sodium, saltwater, or seaweed extract. Their salads are from a pesticide free farm and their oils are free of trans fats and hydrogenated fats. Kabobs are their specialty, and all of Luna Grills kabobs are prepared on metal skewers.

I recently dined here and had a very pleasurable experience. When I first arrived I was really impressed with the sheer cleanliness of this place. I could practically see the sparkle coming from the floors.


The decor in the restaurant felt light, refreshing and clean. Most of the furniture is bright red and the lighting fixtures are a crisp white. Pictures of fresh produce hang prominently on the wall giving you an idea of what you are about to order. The vibe is very modern and contemporary.


For starters I tried their lemon chicken soup. It was a nice blend of chicken, rice and, and a subtle amount of lemon. It tasted very light and flavorful.


I also had their hummus and pita. It was by far the best hummus I have had. It was smooth, tangy, and you can see they put a splash of olive oil on top and sprinkle it with paprika and other spices. It was the perfect blend of ingredients. I also love olives so I was even happier when I saw it had Kalamata olives in it. The pita bread was served warm and soft making it the perfect pairing.


My first entree was the chicken kabob. The presentation was beautiful and the chicken was grilled to perfection. They did a great job marinating the chicken because it was incredibly moist, savory and not too greasy. It was served with a Greek salad, Basmati rice, pita bread, cucumber yogurt dip, and garnished with a grilled tomato. I really enjoyed how the lettuce in the salad was a spring mix instead of just romaine or iceberg.


Next, I sampled the ground sirloin  kabob. This flame licked kabob was so tasty. The meat was so flavorful and I loved how it was de-skewered before it was served to me.  That certainly made it easier to eat and I like knowing my kids can’t hurt themselves on anything sharp.


The last dish I sampled was the beef kabob. I am a huge meat lover and I think I did a little happy dance in my seat when they brought this to me. Marinated pieces of tender beef were skewered with onions and bell peppers making this dish my favorite one. The meat was grilled just right and was so tender. I chose the carrots this time instead of the tomato and mixed it up with the Luna Salad which had Organic baby spinach, craisins, almond slivers, feta cheese, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and house vinaigrette.


Luna Grill has a nice assortment of desserts to finish off your meal. Try the Baklava,  a red velvet cupcake,  a nut roll or a brownie. Any of the choices will please your palate.


Luna Grill also has a large wrap around patio with heat lamps making it the perfect spot to enjoy your food in the fresh air.

A few things about Luna Grill:

  • They serve craft beer and wine and have several big screen TV’s in the restaurant for watching sports.
  • Kids (12 and under) eat free every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to close, with the purchase of an entrée.
  • There are many gluten free and vegan options on the menu
  • They have crushed ice instead of whole cubes and your drinks get cold really fast.  A total plus!
