Million Dollar Arm World Premiere at the El Capitan Theatre

We attended as a guest of Disney

The “Million Dollar Arm” World Premiere was held at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles this week. It was not a typical premiere as the event started out with a Million Dollar Arm pitching contest. Just like in the movie, there were try-outs for the competition weeks leading up to the premiere, and the finalist from the try-outs was flown to the premiere to compete for a $1 Million dollar prize.

Right in front of the El Capitan Theatre, the finalist competed to see who could throw the fastest pitch in front of some of the greatest baseball legends of all-time. The crowd cheered as these men put everything they had into the once in a lifetime opportunity of the chance to win a million dollars.

We were cheering for the two local Orange County boys, Blaine Jones from Rancho Santa Margarita and Harrison Pyatt from Yorba Linda. While we were keeping our fingers crossed that the winner would be from Orange County, the winning pitch came from the very talented Josh Dalh from Arizona.

After the winning pitch, JB Bernstein, which the film is based off his true life story, awarded the million dollars and invited Josh Dalh to train with them. At that moment, the life of Josh Dalh changed forever, just like it did for the boys in the film.

After the excitement from the Million Dollar Arm pitching contest, it was time to have some pre-party fun on the green carpet. We ate Pink’s hot dogs, Subway sandwiches, Kind Bars and nuts. All of America’s favorite baseball game food was served while some guests were given a unique opportunity to throw their own pitch. I pitched a 20mph ball – not bad for a girl in a pretty dress..right?

Then it was time to walk the green carpet. As we walked the carpet, we stopped to meet many of the actors in the film and congratulate them on their incredible work that went into making the film “Million Dollar Arm.”

Finally, we made our way into the historic El Capitan Theatre where the crowd cheered as the film was played for the first time.

The film, “Million Dollar Arm,” comes out in theaters on May 16th, but Disney is inviting families to special early sneak preview of the film on Saturday, May 10th in select theaters.
