Momcation at Harrah’s Resort Southern California

We stayed as a guest of the resort

As Moms, we are always working. Driving carpool, cooking dinner, doing homework – our job is never done. The best thing that I have found to be the best Mother and wife is to take the time to care for myself. At least twice a year, I plan a weekend getaway, leaving all the stresses of parenting behind to focus on myself and inner healing. With Mother’s Day happening this month, I surprised by Mom by taking her with me on my “Momcation” to Harrah’s Resort Southern California in San Diego.

I left my husband behind with the kids for the weekend and picked up my Mom for the ultimate weekend getaway. Being a food lover at heart I planned to stay at Harrah’s for the 2nd Annual Latin Food & Wine Festival. As we drove down the scenic road towards the resort, we felt all the stresses of daily life drift away.

As we pulled into the valet, we were greeted by the accommodating staff who helped with a fast check-in and whisked our luggage up to our room for the weekend. The room was spacious and luxurious with every detail thoughtfully executed. We stayed in one of the newly renovated suites that well exceeded our expectations with a large master bedroom, master bathroom, living room, kitchenette and guest bathroom.

Once we were settled in at the resort, we made our way down for cocktails at the hip bar, Corked. The bar features one of the largest craft beer and wine varieties that I have seen at a resort with competitive pricing. With the resort just minutes away from the premier wine country in Temecula, the resort features many local wines on their menu. When we had taken our last sip of wine, it was time to dine at Fiore.

Fiore is a lavish restaurant with an indoor oyster bar and secluded dining tables. Our taste buds were tantalized with every bite of the steak and seafood that we savored while enjoying each others company. With the highly acclaimed Will Burtner, CS as the Sommelier for Fiore, our meal was paired to perfection with the perfect glass of wine.

The next morning we spent the day enjoying the glorious sunshine at the resort pool. The resort pool accommodates the needs of even the most discerning traveler with an exhilarating lazy river, swim-up pool bar, and large swimming pool. We felt like we were in paradise while sipping on Pina Coladas and catching up on reading books that we had wanted to read for the past six months. We ended the day by sipping on wine and enjoying bites at the 2nd Annual Latin Food & Wine Festival.

We couldn’t leave Harrah’s Resort Southern California without some pampering at the spa. We connected with our mind, body and soul while having a pure relaxation massage in the premier facility. The spa therapy was a well-deserved indulgence that satisfied our relaxation desires.

Mission San Antonio de Pala

On our way home we took our time to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from the roadside farmers and explored the Mission San Antonio de Pala that is just a short distance away from the resort. Once I returned home, I felt refreshed, rested, relaxed, and ready to enjoy every moment with my family. There is no greater gift to one’s self than to take time for yourself, and Harrah’s Resort Southern California in San Diego is the perfect relaxation destination.
