While, in Florida, last month, Amy and I boarded a bus with our families to see a screening of Monsters University with our children. The anticipation was high as our kids were eager to see this new Disney Pixar animation film. With Monsters Inc. being my oldest sons favorite movie as a child, he could not wait to watch the story of how his two favorite characters (Mike and Sulley) first met.

Before the film started the crowd filled with lots of growls, hissing and screams as the kids began sharing their different scream tactics with each other. Once the popcorn and slushies were in place – it was time for the fun to start.

The movie started out with an introduction from the Director, Dan Scanlon. Then it was time to hit the books as we followed Mike and Sulley’s college adventures.

My kids are growing up developing a love for film and animation more than I could have imagined. With animation being a passion of mine, I have loved sharing how animation is made with my children. They have developed a true appreciate for the art, hours and talent that goes into the years of making an animation film like Monsters University.

While watching Monsters University, the children could barely stop laughing at all the great jokes in the film. One thing that they truly appreciated when talking to me later about the film was the detail. They noticed a lot of the small details of the film such as the Monster style bushes on the Monsters University campus, and how the coloring and lighting of the film was much brighter than the first.

There were so many characters that the kids want to get to know more in this film by seeing it again when it comes into theaters on June 21st.

Want to learn more about Monsters University? I will be at the premiere on June 17th in Los Angeles. Follow along with all the excitement from the red carpet on twitter under the hashtag #MonstersUPremiere.
