What You Need for Your New Baby

When you have just had a new baby, it can be difficult to know all of the items that you need to make your and your baby’s life together go smoothly. Choosing between the vast range of items that are available can be overwhelming. If you are currently struggling to gather together every single item you need and know what is essential and what you will simply not use, here is everything you will definitely use within the first few weeks and months of your baby’s life.

A Baby Monitor

Having a good monitor can ensure that you have peace of mind when your baby is sleeping in their cot or crib. The one monitor that we are using for our baby is the eufy 360 smart sock monitor. My favorite feature is that I can talk or sing to the baby when they are with their sitter, and it gives her the comfort that I am right there with her when I am away at work. (Plus, set- up is super easy which all of us parents appreciate when it comes to baby products.

It features

  • Wellness Tracker and Daily Reports: The Smart Sock keeps track of your baby’s real-time sleep data, including heart rate, sleep status and movements, and provides daily sleep reports—all without having to pay a monthly fee.
  • Know When You Are Needed: Get instant notifications when your baby is awake or fussy from both the base and your phone. The base will alert you with sound and red light.
  • Accurate Readings: Using a Fresnel lens, Smart Sock detects and reads your baby’s vitals more accurately.
  • 2K Resolution Camera: Capture delicate details with 2K crystal-clear clarity and see everything happening in your baby’s room. Smart Baby Monitor comes with a non-invasive night vision that lets you monitor closely, even at night.
  • Comfortable and Easy to Wear: Smart Sock is made from a dirt-resistant, flexible, and washable material that is gentle on your baby’s skin.
  • No Subscription Fee: No monthly subscription fee or long-term contract. This means you’re free to access all of your baby’s sleep data, history, and reports.
  • 3 Sizes to Choose From: Smart Sock comes in 3 sizes and will fit either foot, so it’s always comfortably worn for newborn babies up to 18 months old.

A Weaning Bib

As your child starts to get older and weans off baby milk, you will need to invest in a weaning bib for them that can help them to eat solid foods easily and without creating masses of mess within your kitchen. A weaning bib is easy to attach to high chairs and pushchairs, is comfortable for your little one, and can prevent them from ruining their clothes and covering themselves with more of their meals than they manage to eat.

A Cot

Your baby will need to have somewhere to sleep, though. Although you might be tempted to let them sleep with you, this can be dangerous, and your bed may not support them in the way that it should. Then, it would help if you got a cot instead that will allow you to keep them near you at night without the possibility of accidentally squashing them. You should look for cots that are adjustable, and that can grow with your baby, as well as one that benefits you, with some cots giving you extra storage options.

A Baby Bath

To ensure that your baby does not slip when you are washing them, and to reduce the risk of drowning, you should buy your baby their own bath. A baby bath can allow you to easily wash them without any problems and takes moments to fill, rather than waiting for ages while a larger tub fills with water. However, if you do not want to buy a mini bath that you will only be using for a few months, you might decide to use a washing-up bowl or similar bowl instead, as these are roughly the same size and serve the same purpose.

Clothes

You will need to dress your baby up to keep them warm and safe, especially if they are born in the winter. Then, you should consider what type of clothes you want your baby to wear, with many new moms opting for sleepers and all-in-ones that can allow your baby to stay comfortable and to move around easily. You might also decide to opt for rompers and dresses as these can make it easier to change their nappies and to swap if they get dirty throughout the day.
