Newborn Presents to Give

If a friend or family member is expecting a baby or has just welcomed a newborn into the world, you probably want to mark the occasion with a gift. However, unless mom or dad has asked for a specific type of present, it can be difficult to know what to get them. This is especially true if you don’t have any children of your own.

The good news is that there’s a huge variety of gifts out there to choose from – the bad news is that this level of choice can make the task overwhelming! To help you out, here are five suggestions for types of presents you can give. Once you’ve narrowed it down to one of these, the rest will be easy.

1. Clothing

Perhaps unsurprisingly, babies need clothes! For newborns, one of the best styles to go for is a bodysuit. These are easy for parents to get on and off and are made from soft and breathable fabric that’s perfect for delicate skin. You’ll find all sorts of adorable designs to choose from, with long and short-sleeved options to suit the time of year. If you’re not sure whether your friend is expecting a boy or a girl, there are plenty of gender-neutral styles out there too. Another idea is to buy an outfit that the baby can grow into, seeing as they grow up so quickly.

2. Cuddly toys

Plush soft toys have long been a favorite present for a newborn – and for a good reason! They feel lovely for babies to cuddle up to, look super cute, and with any luck, will last a long time. You never know, if you pick a good quality and quirky plushie such as jelly cat soft toys, he or she might still have it on their bed when they’re a teenager!

3. Practical items

It might not be glamorous, but there are plenty of practical items that new parents need for their newborn. This includes everything from diapers and pacifiers to baby wipes. Another option is to simply offer to help out with household chores or running errands to give mom and dad a bit of a break.

4. Educational toys

All parents want their kids to grow up smart, so why not give newborns a head start with an educational toy? For example, you could choose an activity play mat or gym, stacking rings to build coordination, musical toys to stimulate the senses, and much more. Seeing as they will probably be inundated with toys for babies, you could opt for one aimed at a slightly older age for them to grow into.

5. Gifts for the parents!

It’s natural to want to shower a newborn baby with presents, but don’t forget about mom and dad! They’re likely to be exhausted, and a gift, especially for them, will be very well received. For instance, you could get them some comfy pajamas or loungewear, a gift certificate for a food delivery service, pampering beauty products for some me time, some tea or coffee, chocolates, or even a day out to a spa. You know your friend best – have a think about exactly what would make them happy, or their life easier, and aim for that!
