OC Kids Show Their Ratatouille Disney Side with Chef Gallagher

Photos by Naz

How do kids who love to cook show their Disney Side? Cooking of course! Fifteen local OC Kids came together over the weekend at The Hood Kitchen in Costa Mesa to show their Disney Side by cooking Ratatouille with the highly-acclaimed Michelin Star Chef, and owner of Vanity Catering and Events, Chef Conrad Gallagher.

“If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff.” – Remy from “Ratatouille”

When the kids first arrived at The Hood Kitchen, Chef Gallagher, and father of three, was there to greet all the kids with chef hats and aprons. He took time to talk to the children about how to make ratatouille and the origin of the dish. Then it was time for the kids to make the meal from their favorite Disney movie – Ratatouille! The only thing missing was the rat, Remy.

The film “Ratatouille” came to life for the local kids as they watched the award-winning chef prepare lunch with them in a professional kitchen. The kids felt  like they were the rat Remy in the film, “Ratatouille,” hiding under the hat of the chef while helping to cook ratatouille for a food critic.

Once the kids were done chopping and dicing all the fresh colorful vegetables for the dish, it was time for some interactive games. They played Bingo, Disney trivia and used their imagination to color their own Run Disney character. The room filled with rich laughter and happiness while having Ratatouille for lunch with Chef Gallagher at The Hood Kitchen.

The kids created unforgettable magical memories together that will last a lifetime while being inspired from Chef Gallagher to explore their love for cooking.

Who is Chef Conrad Gallagher? He began training at the age of 12 years old in Ireland and won four gold medals at Hotel Olympia in Ireland. When he moved to New York, he joined the Plaza Hotel before being recruited to Peacock Alley. At the age of 24, he won his first Michelin Star, making him the youngest in the world to receive the honor. He recently opened Ways & Means in Fullerton before starting his own business, Vanity Catering and Events.

Chef Gallagher has more than just a catering company, and is passionate about sharing his love for food with our community. He offers interactive cooking classes, Pop Up Dinners, private dining events, and caters large events. Imagine learning to cook with your husband inside of a professional kitchen at the Hood Kitchen by a Michelin Star Chef? It would be just as magical and memorable as it was for these kids.
