OC Mom Blog takes on Monster Jam

Who says girls can’t enjoy dirt flying, car smashing, engine roaring trucks? I had a blast this past Saturday at Monster jam in Anaheim.  These twelve-feet-tall, ten-thousand-pound machines will bring you to the edge of your seat, racing and ripping up a custom-designed track full of obstacles to soar over or smash through. All the favorites were there including Grave digger, The patriot, Captain America, Iron man, Mohawk Warrior, Iron Outlaw, El Toro Loco, Bounty Hunter, Monster Mutt, and more! I am pretty sure I didn’t put my camera down the entire time!

My son and I had so much fun watching all the Monster trucks jump mangled buses, cars, and dirt ramps. El Toro Loco had this cool feature where it could blow smoke from it’s hood.

Trucks were constantly on their sides, and upside down and one even caught fire. But the drivers always walked away smiling. It was neat to see all of them be such good sports!!

Captain America even came out of his truck posing for everyone! It only took a few minutes for the rescue vehicles to turn the trucks right side up.

But before Captain America flipped, he was soaring through the air like a kite.

Tropical thunder showed off it’s talent by 2 wheeling it over a broken down boat before landing safely on all fours. During the freestyle competition anything goes!

Monster Mutt had this really fun bouncy tail, and floppy ears and a floppy tongue. He lost his tail upon impact here.

This truck had no problems at all showing off! He also did about 20 donuts in a row!

And last but not least, we have Grave Digger! Obviously the top dog in this competition. This was such a fun night out and we saw so many families enjoying it together!

Monster Jam will be back at Angel Stadium on February 9th, 2013. Click here for more info.

Here are a few tips you should know ahead of time:

  • Bring earplugs for the kids and yourself. It is an extremely loud show.
  • Let your kids look on line at the trucks prior to the show.  If they have  knowledge of the trucks ahead of time it makes them more excited and enjoy the races.
  • Have your child make a Poster board sign of their favorite truck/s. If you are in the lower tiers, the driver might choose them for a special gift.
  • Arrive early and  attend the pit party if you can. You can see the trucks up close.
