OC Wine Fest – A Day of Wine + Friends
We visited as a guest of the venue
A little rain didn’t stop this writer from attending the OC Wine Fest at “A Stones Throw” in San Juan Capistrano. In fact, we seemed to be in great company with fellow wine enthusiasts!
Wineries from as far north as Napa and south to Escondido gathered to share their bottled treasures. Enticing us with beautiful notes of fruit; from the crispness of a Sauvignon Blanc to a full body flavor of a Cabernet Sauvignon.
We enjoyed learning in depth about the winemakers and their individual stories. We found it often begins with a passion for creating a wine for themselves and soon discover they have a delicious wine to share with others; and so a winery is born. We love when that happens and by the winemakers enthusiasm, they do too.
The day of tasting included a sprinkling of breweries too; it’s always such a great compliment to these events since it broadens the experience for all to explore. A favorite was the Peroni booth complete with bocci ball. The Bruery really grabbed this writer with their “Girl Grey” brew; even suggesting it pairs well with a plate of pancakes and bacon. Yes! A new idea for dinner, right?
Finding old friends and making new friends, we mingled amongst the crowd. We played Jenga while a DJ played classic rock and dined on an array of seafood, sandwiches and fries from one of the several gourmet food trucks.
As we peered out towards the orange groves surrounding us, raindrops sprinkling atop the canopy; we toasted “to new friends, great wine and a lovely day”. OC Wine Fest and “A Stones Throw” you created a perfect weekend for everyone and this writer is looking forward to the next event!
