Orange County Congenital Heart Walk

Heart Walk 2016

Present at birth, but not often diagnosed until children are older, a congenital heart defect (CHD) is a problem with the structure of the heart. Congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defect in the United States, affecting approximately one in one hundred, or 40,000 newborns each year.

Many families in Orange County and across the country have been impacted by this unfortunate health issue. However, with several wonderful organizations supporting ongoing fundraising and research, families impacted by a CHD can be assured advocates are standing by them for their child’s health, hope and happiness.

OC Heart Walk

The Congenital Heart Walk (CHW) is the only national event series dedicated to fighting congenital heart disease. This year, more than 50,000 supporters will gather in more than 30 cities across the U.S. with the goal of raising much needed funds to benefit cutting-edge research, patient programs, and advocacy initiatives.

We are pleased to announce that Orange County is proud to offer a Congenital Heart Walk!

The CHW is a series of national events in which participants walk to honor and remember the millions who have been impacted by CHD, and to raise money for ongoing research of the disease.  Since 2010, the CHW has raised more than $7 million to support national nonprofit organizations fighting CHD. The CHW puts on display a team of courageous individuals, many just regular Moms and Dads and brothers and sisters, joining together to make a difference in the world around them.
