Children are invited to enjoy a special story time at your nearest Pottery Barn store at 11:00am. Children can get a free passport to collect stamps for every story time visit. After collecting five stamps, children will receive a special surprise. The event is free to the public.

Preschool Storytime is offered every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00am. Join us for songs, stories, and surprises at one of these two weekly identical storytimes!  Sometimes we do experiments, sometimes we make crafts–There’s always something fun when we get the preschoolers together!  Perfect for ages 2-5.

Here is a perfect activity for school-aged kids! Would you like to be one of our Once Upon a Stortybook review writers? Would you like people to know which books are your favorites? We would love your help! If you come to this 45-min workshop, we will teach you how to write short reviews and shelf-talkers for our store. You will get your own cards, and you will be able to tell the world about your faves. We’ll proudly post your comments throughout the store. To be a reviewer, you must attend this workshop! $10/child Ages 7. Please let us know you are coming. Event runs 3:00pm – 4:00pm.

Surf City Nights is when three blocks of Main Street (between PCH and Orange St.) close to traffic and open to fun. Shops spread out with sidewalk sales, the streets fill with unique vendors, and the farmers set up with fresh, seasonal produce and flowers. It happens every Tuesday year-round from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Free admission.  A variety of performers provide hours of lively entertainment. It’s a place where children dance in the streets, jump in the bounce houses, or ride a pony. It’s for strolling couples, friends’ reunions, and family gatherings. It’s when every restaurant tempts you with signature dishes, cheerful drinks and Surf City Night specials. It’s the perfect place to find that special gift amongst the 90+ vendor booths.  Street parking. Park in the City parking structure off Walnut and 3rd street.

Free family entertainment for the whole community! Presented by the city of Costa Mesa and Costa Mesa Community Foundation. There will be activities for the kids, gourmet food trucks and a wine and beer garden at this year’s concerts. Event runs 5:00pm – 7:45pm, music begins at 6:15pm, preshow at 5:00pm. Main parking at Goathill Junction Train lot.

Spend a summer evening in our Samueli Conference Center getting “up close and personal” with local scientists. Your entire family is invited to visit as we survey the stars, explore the seas, and dive into the surf zone. Each experience will include a presentation by a guest speaker with alternate activities for kids, followed by a lab program to introduce your whole family to the fascinating world of science. A different topic will be covered each week. Today’s topic is Headlands & Beyond with Julianne Steers. Our Director of Husbandry, will speak about the Ocean Institute’s new public exhibits and what it’s like to be a professional aquarist.

Family Science Nights will run on Tuesdays July 7 & 21 and August 4 & 18 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Cost is $9/person ($7/Member): $27/Family-pack; ($18/Member Family-pack). Register online. Make the evening extra special by enjoying your own picnic dinner before the program! Picnic areas and tables are available around the Ocean Institute and at Baby Beach.
