Wee Wonder Walks: Blast Off!

Space suits are on, our voices are low; we are ready to shout Blast Off! It’s now time to go! Come hear this out-of-this-world tale about our first astronauts in space. Then, enjoy some amazing astronaut treats and make sparkling crafts to hang at home. This program is perfect for wee little ones, 2 – 6 years of age. We will spend the first half of the time enjoying our program’s topic, possibly making a craft or listening to a story, and then we will explore the trails on an easy paced walk, suitable for off-road strollers and carrying packs. Parent or guardian must register and attend along with their child. Event runs 10:00am – 11:o0am for ages 2 and up. Register online. Driving directions emailed upon registration.

Bayside Buddies is OC Parks new summer program for school age kids offered on selected Thursdays, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (ages 4-10)! This is a parent and child hike with activities and games along the way, and ending with a craft in the cool classroom. Come learn about the different habitats of Upper Newport Bay, who lives here and why the Bay is important. Come prepared for exciting experiences! $5.00 per child and pre-registration is required. Slow-Paced Fitness Hike on Paved Hicks Haul Road

Enjoy an evening fitness hike through stunning rock formations and fragrant native plants as you listen to the sounds of nature. This hike is done at your own pace as a walk, jog, or run (speed range typically 2.5 to 3.5 mph), so is suitable for beginners who are just starting their fitness program as well as more experienced hikers who are looking for a workout. This out-and-back program travels the 3.5 mile route to scenic Loma Ridge (450′ elevation gain) and back down, with most participants completing the route in about 1.5 hours. The hike is family-friendly, but children must be closely supervised by an adult and able to hike with the group, or be safely carried by a strong adult or secured in a jogging stroller. This free hike runs 6:00pm – 8:00pm for ages 12 and up. Register online. Driving directions emailed upon registration.

Fullerton Downtown Farmers’ Market

Located in the Downtown Plaza on Wilshire Avenue, between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue, adjacent to the Fullerton Museum Center.

Fullerton Market offers farm-fresh produce, flowers, fresh-baked breads, live entertainment, outdoor beer garden, arts and crafts, and activities for children. In addition to the traditional favorites, new vendors will be added each week. The market runs 4:00pm – 8:30pm, April 2 – October 29, 2015.

Admission to the market is free. There are kids’ activities, live entertainment, an outdoor beer garden, arts and crafts, produce vendors and more! Visitors to Fullerton Market will also be able to tour the award-winning Fullerton Museum Center, which offers a special reduced admission rate of $2 per person from 4 to 8 p.m. on market days the first Thursday of every month.

Parking for Fullerton Market may be found in any of the free downtown lots, or in the parking structures at Wilshire (enter from Harbor); Lemon Street and Chapman Avenue; and in the Transportation Center on Pomona and Santa Fe Avenue. Musical Entertainment starts at 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. each night. See website for band line-up.

Fountain Valley Live Summer Concert Series takes place every Thursday night from July 2nd to July 30th. Concerts are free and are from 5-8 pm at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center & Sports Park, 16400 Brookhurst Street. Attendants should bring picnic blankets and chairs to each event. The event is a fun picnic-style concert for families with their kids. Parking and admission is completely free. Event runs 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

Concertgoers can enjoy the sights and sounds of evening concerts in the park brought to you by the Garden Grove Community Foundation. No EZ-Ups or golf carts, please. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Concert runs 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Voice of Garden Grove contest starts at 5:30pm.

Free concerts presented by the City of Placentia Cultural Arts Commission. Non profit food vendors will be selling refreshments and dinner option at each concert. Inclement weather will cancel event. Concerts begin at 6:30pm.

Free Concerts in the Park are held during the summer on Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at El Centro-Lions Park, 320 E. Erna Ave. Open seating is first come, first served on the grass in front of the stage. Please bring your own chairs and blankets for seating. You may also bring your own food and drinks or purchase them at the event from vendors, which include food trucks, local restaurants and local non-profits. There is a kids’ zone at each concert with games and activities run buy our aquatics staff. Kids and adults also can participate in the games that take place during the concert’s intermission. Please no alcohol or pets, with the exception of service dogs.
