Orange County Restaurant Dining Guide: Stay-at-Home Christmas

Select South Coast Plaza restaurants are offering unique, family-style menus for takeout this holiday season.
All require preordering and may be picked up December 23 or December 24. They are cooked, chilled and have instructions on reheating.


Start a new holiday tradition with Tiffany Tea for Two or Breakfast at Tiffany for Two. The Blue Box Cafe at South Coast Plaza offers curated menu packages to enjoy at home. Orders are placed online and require 48 hours notice prior to picking up.

The bento box packaged menu includes chia seed yogurt pudding with farmer’s market fruit, croissants with organic strawberries and lavender mascarpone, Tiffany avocado toast, smoked salmon and buckwheat mille feuille, and Bellocq No. 727 The Tiffany Blend: A floral infusion of Chinese and Ceylon black tea with notes of lychee, rose buds, lavender and vanilla.

The impressive array features different scones–cranberry citrus and pine nut brown butter–and sage-red kuri squash Madeleines served with Devonshire cream, cherry ginger marmalade, and wildflower honey. An assortment of creative tea sandwiches is complemented with a generous selection of petit fours and confections. Included is a tin of Bellocq No. 727 Tiffany Blend Tea.

A four-layer white chocolate cake with feuilletine and citrus passionfruit crémeux, fancifully iced and presented as the famous Tiffany gift box. Generously serves 12 or more.

All may be ordered as an optional deluxe set that includes Tiffany signature china and accessories for an additional charge.

Celebrated chef Ross Pangilinan offers a holiday family meal kit for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day from Terrace by Mix Mix. The takeout dinner for four begins with an amuse bouche of bacon-wrapped dates. The menu includes butternut squash soup served in a roasted acorn squash, braised beef short ribs, salmon Wellington, roasted vegetables, twice baked potatoes and Parker House rolls. Dessert is apple toffee cake with freshly whipped cream.

The dinner will be cooked and chilled, with heating directions that will take less than an hour to reheat. Substitutions politely declined.

Knife Pleat Caviar To Go


Indulge in a luxe four-course menu from Michelin-starred chef Tony Esnault perfect for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve. Menu will be cooked and chilled with simple instructions for service and reheating. Knife Pleat’s produce is organic; animal products are 100% pasture-raised, free range and sustainable.

Begin with a fall soup of sunchoke, salsify, parsnip, celery, beluga lentils and Granny Smith apple. Next enjoy Maine lobster salad with romaine, citrus, crème fraîche, lobster essence. The entrée, Beef Wellington, is pasture-raised beef tenderloin, mushroom duxelles, spinach, wrapped in brioche with black truffle jus and served with rösti potatoes and fall vegetables.
Dessert from pâtissier Geman Biotteau is Bûche de Noël –cognac sponge cake, caramel crémeux and sauce, meringue.

Holiday feast for four! Let chef Amar Santana cook for you this Christmas. Select a choice of entrée and enjoy a sumptuous dinner at home. Pick up at your choice of Vaca or The Hall, and reheat at home with simple instructions.

Select one entrée: Frenched pork roast with smoked apple butter or roasted Australian Grade 4 Wagyu beef ribeye with creamed peppercorn jus (both are 3 lbs.).

Menu includes: charcuterie platter with three imported meats and three artisanal cheeses, chef’s salad with cranberry vinaigrette, 2 lbs. glazed, cured ham, Yukon Gold potato gratin, roasted winter vegetables and for dessert, chocolate Bûche de Noël from the Hall’s pastry chef Shannon Mackay.

The Capital Grille offers three-course dinners for holidays at home and a premium four-course dinner for Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. Each serves four to six guests. Guests may elevate dinner with enhancements such as appetizers and additional side dishes. Includes simple instructions for warming at home.

The three-course menu offers two entrée options—please select one: beef tenderloin and butter poached North Atlantic lobster tails or tenderloin and jumbo shrimp scampi-style with white wine and garlic. Dinner starts with fields green salad with heirloom tomatoes and Parmesan vinaigrette and seeded French rolls. Accompaniments to entrées are Sam’s mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus with lemon mosto. For dessert, enjoy the Capital Grille cheesecake brûlée style with fresh berries.

The four-course menu has two entrée options: A Capital Grille exclusive—a whole rack of bone-in filet with truffle butter and horseradish cream or Kona crusted bone-in prime rib with caramelized shallot jus and horseradish cream. Guests will start with New England clam chowder followed by a fields green salad served with seeded French rolls. Entrée accompaniments are lobster mac and cheese, grilled asparagus and Sam’s mashed potatoes. End on a sweet note with flourless chocolate espresso cake.

Holiday Green Boxes feature a choice of two entrees: whole side of cedar plank-roasted salmon with dill mustard sauce or Kona crusted wood-grilled beef tenderloin with aged balsamic demi-glace.

Morton’s offers exclusively for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day a special takeout menu featuring Chateaubriand for Two.

The three-course dinner starts with a winter salad of mixed greens, spiced walnuts and blue cheese crumbles with balsamic vinaigrette. The chateaubriand, cooked to guest’s preference, is with roasted shallots, red wine demi-glace reduction and sauce Béarnaise. Black truffle mashed cauliflower, creamed spinach and sour cream mashed potatoes accompany the tender prime beef. Guests each receive a dessert of La Bête Noir–flourless chocolate cake with whipped cream and fresh berry coulis. Other takeout options available.

Holiday Family Meal ($99, serves four people) includes four 8oz prime rib, horseradish, au jus, home-style mashed potatoes or 5-grain rice pilaf, broccoli with garlic butter, eight chocolate chip cookies, and molasses bread. This to-go only special is available starting Christmas Eve (12/24) through New Year’s Eve (12/31). Orders can be placed on for takeaway or curbside pickup. Also available as an add-on option is the following:

· ¼ Prime Rib (serves 6-8 people) or ½ Prime Rib Holiday Meal (serves 12-14 people) includes a quarter or half pound prime rib cut, creamy horseradish, atomic horseradish, au jus, salad, mashed potatoes, broccoli, whole dessert, and bread.

New Year’s Eve To Go ($99, serves two people) includes two 6oz filet mignon, two lobster tails, one appetizer to share, four classic sidekicks, one dessert to share, molasses bread, and two prosecco splits. Customers can get this to-go feast only on New Year’s Eve (12/31). Orders can be placed on for takeaway or curbside pickup.

Christmas Eve & NYE Individual Meals ($34.99) offers solo diners a festive menu to enjoy on Christmas Eve (12/24) and New Year’s Eve only (12/31). Customers get their choice of an 8oz prime rib or 6oz filet mignon, with lobster tail, and all the fixings. Orders can be placed on for takeaway or curbside pickup.

The first ever “Montage To Go” menus – inclusive of seasonal offerings from Montage Laguna Beach – allowing guests to enjoy the festive cheer they’re accustomed to from the property. Options for pick up (and some delivery) consist of:

· Christmas To Go – Available for pick up on Christmas Eve from 3 – 7pm and Christmas Day from 11am – 3pm, Montage Laguna Beach’s pre-fixe holiday menu includes a curried carrot soup, a choice of arugula and endive salad or butternut squash risotto, a choice between a braised short rib or pan-roasted Baja seabass, and a choice of grand cru Madagascan chocolate or a hazelnut and coffee yule log. *Wine pairings are available for an additional cost.

· Holiday Afternoon Tea for Two (available To Go and via in room dining for resort guests) – Enjoy a classic holiday tradition with this offer, which includes assorted teas and accompaniments, a pastry selection of house-made scones, jams & Devonshire cream, gingerbread eclairs, iced lemon and thyme cake, raspberry tart with white chocolate, and gilded hazelnut chestnut macarons for 80$ for two guests. *Available daily from 3-5pm; champagne and sparkling cider available for an additional cost.

· Gingerbread Kits (available To Go and via in room dining for resort guests) – Montage Laguna Beach’s Gingerbread Kits are packaged and ready to take home or create on property – they include a pre-assembled house, assorted frostings, assorted candies, a Montage apron and a gingerbread recipe available for $55/kit.

· Montage To Go – Available to those local residents who want a taste of Montage at home, this menu features seasonal classics from the property’s restaurants such as classic and Impossible burgers, veal Bolognese, a turkey club, Caesar and mixed greens salads, pan seared salmon, a Niman Ranch prime ribeye and desserts ranging from apple pie to eggnog snickerdoodle cookies and Christmas truffles. *Montage To Go is available to Laguna Beach residents only (hotel guests must utilize in-room dining) daily from 11am – 9pm, and can even be delivered to homes directly by a Montage associate on orders over $150.

Guests can enjoy seasonal dishes like Peppermint Bark Pancakes topped with spiced cocoa sauce, house made peppermint bark, sweet cream, mascarpone and powdered sugar, Jalapeno & Pomegranate Glazed Bacon and the Holiday Harvest Bowl with butternut squash, sweet potato, sautéed onions, poblano peppers, roasted corn, Tender Belly habanero pork belly lardons, topped with a cage free poached egg, cream cheese hollandaise, candied cranberries, crispy prosciutto and jalapeno pomegranate molasses.

Snooze Holiday Cocktails
