Monthly Bird Walk

San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary

5 Riparian View

Irvine, CA 92612

Led by Sea and Sage Audubon Society in partnership with the Irvine Ranch Water District, this free monthly bird walk is a great way to learn more about the wonderful world of birds. Did you know Orange County is along the Pacific Flyway, a migratory bird pathway between Alaska and South America? Come experience the birds of summer with expert Audubon birders during this free walk around the freshwater ponds and wooded areas of an urban marsh. We’ll look for birds raising their young such as Mallards, Osprey, American Avocets, Killdeer, House Finch and Tree Swallow. We’ll listen as terns and Black Skimmers noisily hunt for fish over the deep ponds. We’ll search for the first shorebirds and waterfowl migrating back to our area from their northern breeding grounds. Open to all ages who are interested in bird-watching; children younger than 11 must be accompanied by an adult. Bring water and sun protection for a walk around water. For further information or directions, go to, or contact the Audubon House Volunteer at 949-261-7963. There is no registration required. Free walk is appropriate for ages 12 and up and runs 8:00am – 11:00am.
