Original Girl Scout Cookie Recipe Circa 1922


In the 1920s and 1930s, Girl Scouts in different parts of the country continued to bake their own simple sugar cookies with their mothers. These cookies were packaged in wax paper bags, sealed with a sticker, and sold door to door for 25 to 35 cents per dozen. Here is the recipe:

Moms Magnificent Fudge


  • Ingredients:
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 (12oz) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 (7oz) jar marshmallow cream
  • 2 (12oz) packages of chocolate morsels
  • 2 cups walnuts (optional)
  • 2 9x13 pyrex dishes
  • aluminum foil


  1. Directions:
  2. 1. In a large saucepan combine the sugar, butter, evaporated milk and marshmallow cream. Stir constantly over medium heat until it comes to a boil. (It will take about 20 minutes until it comes to a boil)
  3. 2. Once it comes to a boil continue to stir for 5-6 minutes.
  4. 3. Then add the chocolate morsels (optional walnuts) and stir until the chocolate is fully melted.
  5. 4. Pour into (2) foil lined 9x13" pyrex dishes.
  6. 5. Let cool overnight and then cut into 1" squares.
  7. 6. Package in cute treat boxes that can be found at your local craft store.
