Enjoying Your Visit

There is plenty of space for sports at this park, or just to let your litter ones run wild.

And speaking of wild, Oso Viejo Park is home to the wildest pair of slides I have ever laid eyes on! It may be just the draw for your older kids who aren’t as easily impressed by-play equipment any longer.

For scale, here are the slides compared to my two-year old.  They’d give a fun ride, I’m sure, although I didn’t have the guts to try it myself!

Aside from the three-story “big kid” play structure, boasting rock walls, various climbing equipment, and four slides, there is also a smaller play structure for littler ones to keep busy on.

In addition to the two play structures, there are plenty of swings to go around (regular and baby style).

While the play equipment doesn’t offer much shade, the surrounding sitting areas are comfortable and shade accessible.  Mission Viejo can be warm, especially in summer months, so be sure to pack sunscreen and hats.

As far as coming and going, the park is accessible from two different parking lots on either side of the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, and also via the Oso Creek Trail.  Parking should not be an issue, unless there is a large sporting event taking place, presumably on the weekends.

Oso Creek Trail

Oso Creek Trail is accessible from the park and boasts 5.5 total miles of scenic walking trails. Much of the mileage is along the little creek that you can hear ramble while you run, walk or bike.

There is lush vegetation, and plenty of shade.

Perhaps one of the best parts of this trail is that you almost never see a street or a car, so you really feel like you’re in nature.

Whether you meander down the trail from the park a bit, or come back to experience it in full, you’re sure to enjoy the time spent here!
